To enact his revenge on the Nightmare Man, Mikael Trient is using an Amulet of Bastellus Control to command a bastellus to gather dream energy in the hopes of taking out the Nightmare Man.[1]
The bastellus, meanwhile, has had other plans. It was drawing upon Rhianna's latent psychic powers and nightmares in order to throw off its oppressor, but to no avail. Because of his enslavement of the bastellus, Trient is partially responsible for the death of Rhianna.[1] It has also preyed upon a man named Angus and his brother. The latter was killed due to the energy drain of the bastellus.[2]
