Ermenus[1] is a Kargat vampire, who leads the Ermenus cell that operates out of the southeastern end of the Mountains of Misery, several settlements along the Dnar River and the Nova Vaasa border, and the southern Darkonian coasts of the Nocturnal Sea. As such, he serves Beryl Silvertress and Azalin Rex. Ermenus is involved in numerous fell activities both official and criminal in nature. Like other Kargat vampires, Ermenus can create alchemical concoctions of his blood to entice thralls with the cessation of aging with a seeming elixir of immortality. Ermenus keeps four or five such cultist pawns and through them manipulates a wider array of pawns indirectly. (Ermenus conceals his undead nature from his pawns and will destroy any that find out). Beyond his cult of immortality and the usual retinue of Kargat tactics, Ermenus is not above using extortion and bribery to serve his own or his master's interests, especially when attempting to destroy members of the Unholy Order of the Grave.

Aside from his loyalty to his cell and Azalin, Ermenus has little morality left. The sole exception is the guilt Ermenus feels for the murder of his brother, Meretus, by Azalin's decree. The mention of the name triggers a lycanthrope-like transformation into a wolf, almost as if it was a throwback to Ermenus' years as a werewolf when he was one of the living.

Ermenus' lairs include a cave deep in the foothills of the Mountains of Misery and a secret tunnel beneath the Tower of Vengeance.
