Disturbing Art

This section of the page is devoted to artists and artwork that envoke inspiration to your creative Ravenloft juices. Sometimes I use imagery to help inspire descriptions of the scenes I use in my campaigns.

There are a number of artists, who through surealism or disturbing subject matter evoke senses that aid me in painting a dark and contraversial world.

WARNING! Some Viewers may find the art I like to be graphic, confronting, contraversial, explicit or offensive in some way. If you don't like it, you have a right not to look at it. But this is a digital realm of free speech. Don't bitch to me about the moral offensiveness of some of the artwork. I don't agree with you.

Some of my favourite artists include:

Bill Henson (Melbourne, Australia, 1955-) - An artist from my native Australia, Bill Henson's slightly blurred, confronting photographic collages focus on the dark places in life, the twilight periods of puberty, and day to night. Contains some nudity.

H.R. Giger (Cher, Switzerland, 1940-) - Perhaps my all time favourite artist, Giger is a surealist genius, his dark twisted creations while nightmares to others are fascinating to me. He is best known for his creation of the creatures from Alien.

ADND Planet Fantasy Gallery - Lots of great work, some of it themed on gothic horror.
