Re: Game of Thrones - the TV series
As a note, after he watched it he had surmised more than I thought would "filter through" the series to the casual viewer that hasn't read the book. I seem I was a bit too critical with some of the things I noted as "They don't show as well as in the book" since my father, a casual viewer that's not aware of anything in the books got them.

Re: Game of Thrones - the TV series
Enjoyable read even if I did have to click a million spoiler tags to get through the topic and just skipped other ones. XD Watched it with my friends and mother and it got my mom interested enough to buy the books so she's already through all five books. So their waiting for me whenever I get done with Steven Erikson's Malazan books of the fallen. (I got a while to go trust me) I did like the show however which i'm hoping means i will really like the books. One of the few serise I have done backwards. (show/movie and then the book. I usually read the book first)

SEASON 2
Yeah, I already got my book to read with it.
Well, not much to say about episode 1. From what I saw they have "desychronised" the chapters with the book. For example Jon misses 2 really boring chapters (I skimmed them) and gets one third of the way into the book. Good choice IMO. Not really interesting episode but doing a better job than the book by omitting boring stuff. I liked a few things that miss though. And they had one very smart character make a blunder that made me go
since it was contrary to his character.
As for episode 2 I watched it. Was better than the last but they added some things. I think they added a couple of plot holes for later. Truth be told a friend of mine that read the book, told me it was... thinner than the other books.
Add more later as I watch it/read it.

Yeah, a bit. For one thing, I think the book is longer than the first, but the show is the same length. So there will likely be more cuts. Also, there are some characters that barely appear in the book, so they'll be pulling in stuff from book 3 for them to do. (Which will require more cuts to make room.) Not to mention all the added Ros scenes that are totally necessary.Well, not much to say about episode 1. From what I saw they have "desychronised" the chapters with the book.

Gonzoron:
They cut stuff that I mostly found too boring to read. Also since some of the things we mentioned, you said are further ahead than the chapters shown, they seem to have "folded" things in. Like merging parts of chapter X parts of X+16.
And again, in a couple of cases they made the show better than the book.
Also the book at times seems too... excessive on sex scenes. We get the picture, we don't need to read 2 pages about how they started, proceeded, finished.
Also to be clear: I don't read the book. I watch the episode with the book next to me and try to find the chapters.

In that case, you may find this website handy: http://towerofthehand.com/books/guide.html They have summaries of each chapter, but also a table of contents, showing whose chapters are when. Also to be clear: I don't read the book. I watch the episode with the book next to me and try to find the chapters.

Episode 3
Well, the show seems to getting closer to the book. I was able to find most events, with just hopping chapters a couple of times. The 2nd book isn't as good as the first IMO (although good enough) but the show is as good as the 1st one. I still miss a few things though, and a couple of things that are missing puzzle me.

Well, I think they downplay her intentionally. I don't know why. Can't even begin to think why.
Also, does anyone know if they've made a game like "Kingmaker" for GoT? (For the few young people here, Kingmaker was a board game (later translated to a computer game) about the war of the Roses; you control a family and try to put your own canditate on the throne.)
