Should be interesting, i mean i generally just hold on to suspension of disbelief for like the harry potter serise for example. Man i can not spell that word for the life of me. Series? there we go that looks right.

Anyways, after the first season i'm sad that one of my favorite character dies.

I really liked him at least in the show we'll see how he acts in the books. Further I must say i really hate Geofry <.< and i am secretly hoping the littlest daughter of Ned sckewers him. <.< That would be appealing.

As for children ages... teens are teens and kids are kids. But when you have 19 years old portraying 13 years old, it's really weird.

You said it's like 2 more years or something till the end of book 5. Even if in the show they push it to 3 years in-movie time, Arya would have been in-show 10+3 = 13 years old, while the actress, already 15 or something would be ... 21 years old while the book Arya would be 9+2 =11 years old.
Yeah, 13 years old are not that different from 11 years old kids but they certainly don't look 21.

Robb I think is OK. He already acts mature in the book. Even if they portay him as 25 years old is totally passable.

Bran? Bran was about 8 years old, 11 in the show and would be like 14 if they strech the book 3 -5 to 3 years. A 14 years old doesn't look like a 19 years old nor thinks and acts like a 10 years old that book-Bran would be like.

And the elephant in the room:
Rickon Stark...
Although in his case, his very young age (I think he's 4 in the end of book 2) work in his favor, since he probably does nothing of interest by the time he's book-age 6 (in the end of book 5). So Rickon actually being as old as the series make him won't change much.

About book 3, that I checked today from a friend:
That thing is indeed, massive. 80 chapters and my friend tells me a lot of things happen and the series move to their "later" form when the author and the reader already know the characters and the world well... and according to my friend there's building up on what we know. He doesn't think that the series could possibly treat book 3 as good as book 1 or honor the story that much.

Anyway, peeked in it to check how my favorite char from book 2 shapes up and what happened after certain acts performed by that char.

Can't say I like how she's coping with what she did. Since too calm for a 10-years old that slit a man's throat. Seems content that the other two are terrified of her.
However, she certainly seems to despise the Dreadfort ally of her brother and paints him in a far worse and violent light than I remember from book 2. Probably trying to justify what she did to his guard.
Aside from her starting to enjoy the power of fear she has over her friends, she shows remarkable initiative and leading abilities and she seems determined to protect them...and kill more people. Jaqen's influence turned her to a killer. She also seems to miss Jon Snow.
Question: Did she know by that time that the bastard of Dreadfort burned Winterfell? I don't have book 2 with me. If she knew that, then slitting the guard's throat wouldn't be that terrible.

Still, I was suprised by the character that has a PoV in chapter 1. Shouldn't have been after watching season 2 but anyway, I was suprised.

Jaime is freaking arrogant and rude to Brienne! More so than in the episodes I remember them in.
Also there's a Lannister/Frey with Brienne, and Brienne is Frey-cousin! Seems that subplot was simplified in the series. I wonder how those two would react on Robb backstabbing the Freys and kicking their family honor in the genitals. Well, Jaime doesn't seem to regard Cleos with much respect as far as how strong-willed he is anyway.
Nice insight on what happened with Catelyn after the "give me your sword" thing. Should have put that after she heard of her boys. It was grief and desperation.
Jaime seems as disgusting as Cercei when it comes to his incestous feelings for her. Really revolting. I shouldn't have read that while eating.

And so, yes, I never read the books. I got half way through book one and lost interest. This was before the HBO series started.

Last Saturday, I was wondering what to watch and my friend Mike had me watch the first episode. Then I said, hey lets watch the second one! And now I have borrowed all of his episodes to watch!

Needless to say, though I thought the book was not for me, the HBO series is absolutely fabulous!

All I have to say is Bravo! Just finished watching Season 2. Most excellent! Looking forward to Season 3.

The first 2 seasons covered the 1st two books, more or less. A few scenes from Book 3 got pulled into Season 2. But now they're going to slow down a bit (because the books get longer). Season 3 will cover only half of book 3. Season 4 will cover the other half.

Hmm? Have they said that? They could, you know, make season 3 into -20- episodes instead of 10 to avoid that.

Yes, they've said that officially. they've also said that at the budget and number of people they have working behind the scenes, they can't make more than 10 episode per year. (I'm not sure I buy that, but that's what they've said.)

If they have a certain budget that cannot be doubled for twice as many episodes then I do believe them. I prefer a slower show that a bad show. It was bad enough with cutting weaselsoup, the powers check worthy act after this and that stinky fellow in season 2.

Just bought Season two and watched the whole thing in two days. (only watched 2 episodes the first day).

The plot definately is thickening with the introduction of more characters. The show is beginning to remind me more and more of Steven Erikson's Malazan Books of the Fallen. Save for that magic is turned down in this series a lot more.

Still liking it thus far, though haven't read any of the 5 books that are currently sitting next to my bed waiting for me to finish reading the 10th and last book of the prior mentioned series. I only have about 400 pages to go out of a 1,000 paged book! XD Look forward to reading the books and i'm glad thus far that i've watched the series since books tend to be better! xD Though I really wonder if there is that much nudity in the books themselves. I guess I'll see.

FWIW, I loved the ASoIaF books, and went looking for series like it, and was recommended the Mazalan series. I barely made it through the first book, and then gave up. So, I would say (from my perspective) that means the ASoIaF series is better, but if you liked Mazalan and I didn't, maybe that means you won't like ASoIaF because I do.

ETA: And in case anyone doesn't know this already: Season 3 starts on 3/31.
