For whatever it is worth, the Stormwrack Web Extension features the korpu who were/are the suspected residence of Shay-Lot.

The web enhancement is handy if you don't know what a kopru is, but it's a bit generic to import its material into the Land of Mists, as is. It'd also be a major departure from Ravenloft's usual humanocentric themes, if we granted such an alien race too much screen time, IMO.

Rock: I like your sealskinner idea, but it sounds more like a specific NPC villain than something for Isabella's chapter on the selkies of Ravenloft. Maybe you could write it up for QtR #15? I think a follow-up article on various unique marine baddies would be a great accompaniment for this book. :)

Just popping in to point out that I'm still alive, and that I'll be getting back to work sometime in the next week.

Also, I've an idea for a rather novel narrator to the Marine Lycanthropes chapter, will be sending such in a PM to you, Roti.

Hrmm...

Yeah, should have checked that out before the Holidays...

The deadline is February, if I remember right (cannot find it admits all these posts). February... what?

Good question! Anybody got a problem with February 15th? That's when I'll be finished with a lot of real-life-work-related business, and will have time to read through and edit the submissions. And remember, this is the deadline for first drafts we're talking about, not final revisions.

Whew. Even better. With this deadline I MIGHT be able to finish the brief article on the Caller, by then.
Anyway, almost done with the Rokuma monsters (four critters and a brief tale on Rokuma will'o'sea), half done with the "letter" about the malasynep... Still gathering ideas on the caller.

A question: what is the view on positive/negative energy theory in the Demiplane? And specifically, do the twins have (let's say canon-wise) a theory or an opinion on it? I don't have a VRG to check with me...

Van Richten sometimes talks about "negative energy" in the original VRGs, IIRC. The W-F girls will know about that, at least as it pertains to undead.

For positive energy and for cleric abilities, it's probably best to avoid too much "gamespeak" in-character, as most natives of Ravenloft would regard such things as divine blessings, rather than something that can (or even should) be defined and quantified. The Twins may not be clerics themselves, but they were brought up to believe in Ezra, and their own books take pains to speak respectfully of others' faith. If your chapter's narrator needs to make secular-sounding references to these energies, he/she should probably acknowledge that the concept is a bit theologically controversial.

Is that any help? I could look at what you have so far, if you want.

It's just that I'll have to speak about the energy animating the Caller, and wanted to male sure that the Twins knew about pos/neg energy, and didn't have a position or theory (think about VRGttM: they keep bickering on their respective theories...). ;)

Hey, folks!

As one submitter has a medical excuse (how's the hand, Nathan?) and at least two others have had IRL delays crop up, I'm extending the deadline for first drafts of written text by another two weeks. How's the end of this month (Feb. 29th) sound?

Consider it a Valentine's Day present, boys. :gabrielle:

Also, Isabella has asked me to pass on her offer to create illustrations and NPC portraits for this netbook. If you've seen her work in other FoS books, you'll know it's a golden opportunity to see your ideas brought to life! So pm her soon (first come, first served: it's a pity there's only one of her), if you have an idea what sort of artwork would compliment your chapter. :-)

AAAARGGHHH!
I can breathe. Thanks, I'll send it as soon as I can.

Roti, in the mail I sent you with the article I asked if illustrations were needed. If you want, I'll send the Deviantart link to the illustrator's gallery. :)

How's about I meet the original deadline and get some of those chalk flavored heart candies?

Done and in.
