Just a question that nugs Draxton: Why are we spending antitoxins on Ronald? We just need Gerard to get out of the swamp. Antitoxins cost about 200 silver pieces each IIRC. That's about 6 months pay for a laborer...
Sure, it would seem bad to return without the guides, but returning with the boatman injured and stories of how we tried to save him, wouldn't leave bad feelings on the locals. After all, it is not sure that Roland will die anyway.

Well, apart from Crow's pesky insistance on being a goody-goody, there's the fact that this is supposed to be a secret errand. Roland is from a higher social position than Gerard, and his disappearance would rouse comment, even if the boatman is sworn to secrecy or (in Draxton's way of thinking) killed so he won't talk. Gertrude's amiable relationship with the local Ezran church would suffer, impairing her research and any future requests for aid by Viktor's group, if the guide whom the Ezrans recommended she hire gets killed on our outing! Nor will Gerard likely cooperate in getting us back to town, if he sees Roland abandoned by the rest of us: it's because of Roland's endorsement that he'd trusted us foreigners on his boat, in the first place.
For now, it's best for everyone's sake if Roland remain mobile, so we won't have to haul him along. Thanks to the Serpent King's little cameo appearance, I don't think we'll have to worry about either of the NPCs blabbing, once we do get back: superstitious fear of the loa should keep them both quiet.

Hmmm... Good thoughts. And no, Draxton wouldn't suggest assassinating Roland.
Yes, it crossed his mind since he knows a few things but after all, he doesn't know anything that could harm us or expose us as a fraternity.

Don't look at me, Crow's got a patient to look after!
What say we draft Buchvold to steer? He's got a couple of fighter levels IIRC, so he's probably the strongest PC on hand who didn't already get a workout fighting the river-critter. Unless somebody else's character has boating experience, I vote we give Moral until morning to object, then stick his PC with the job.

Nathan: Any idea what time it is, when we get back to Gerard's place? Is there still time for a quick pit-stop in town, or should we head directly for the Maison so we won't miss the morning's panel discussion?
Does Gerard live alone? If he has no family and there's nobody home to watch over his recovery, Crow (the big softie) will want to discreetly slip word to the local Ezrans that one of their flock needs medical attention.

It's about (counts) 3 in the morning. Dawn is roughly three hours away; the morning session is scheduled for 8.Rotipher of the FoS wrote:Nathan: Any idea what time it is, when we get back to Gerard's place? As for Gerard living alone--why don't you ask him?
