And I've another one, for the seas around Rokushima Taiyoo. From an acquaintance, Center of All, aka Kaitou-Kage (http://kaitou-kage.deviantart.com/).

'Yamato no Orochi', the Eight-Forked Serpent, has eight tails, eight heads, eyes as red as cherries, and was killed by someone named Susano-O. Might make for a good giant sea monster, or possibly re-written as an evil spirit of some variation.

I make no claim whatsoever on it, Japanese culture is *way* outside my area of expertise.

Orochi was usually portrayed as more of a land serpent than a sea monster. The Legend of the Five Rings campaign setting had smaller, single-headed creatures that were called Orochi, but those were pretty much just intelligent sea serpents.

Just as an interesting trivia tidbit, Susano-O is the Japanese god of storms, and even he had to defeat it with trickery, which might give an indication of how powerful Orochi was.

Hmmm... Yamatanorochi is more an "epic" monster than a D&D monster (let's say it has a drop of divinity inside :)). We can probably imagine acquatic hydras (from stormwrack) as its progeny?
...
Now I want to work on them. So I take the caller, the malsn IT and the children of Orochi. :D

I was thinking... The creature in Delagia's lake? :?

This is a bit of a random idea, so feel free to shout me down, but how about a unique intelligent giant shark construct?

I saw Deep blue sea again the other day, and the idea of a shark that had been augmented to give it a higher intelligence makes for a much more horrifying encounter. This would also allow the whole Jaws thing to come into play which could be fun for a sea based campaign.

What if Mordenheim or Markov or a.n. other had got hold of a Megaladon or giant Great White and increased its brain capacity as well as giving it other augmentations such as maybe metal teeth and a harder skin (Im also drawing on Brotherhood of the Wolf here!), and then set it loose in the Sea of Sorrows, or wherever as an experiment to see how well it survives....

Ack. I'd vastly prefer a wraith or ghost shark to that.

Actually, Shadowking already beat you to that idea. Check out his article in QtR9 on aquatic monsters: "Meredoth's Horror" is an undead version of what you're describing.

(No laser beam installed on its head, but other than that, the frosty old grump pulled out all the stops on that little project....)

I think the idea of intelligent sharks is intriguing, though. Hmmmm... bull sharks IRL sometimes venture into rivers. Perhaps there's a watercourse that links Saragoss to the Wildlands, either underground or via the Mists, that's carried some of those into the later domain to be awakened? More crunchy goodness for an "unnatural beasts" chapter, if so!

It can be made to fit stylistically. Sharks awakened by a NE sea-druid, vat-grown alchemical sharks by someone in Mordent following the path of the Alchemist, etc.

Another question: I'd like to take Dragonov with my NPC (he knows the Finger well, after all ;)). Would that be a problem?

Sure, Dragonov would be great. He appeared in the novel Mordenheim and one of the stories from Tales of Ravenloft, so if you can find either of those books they might help you get into character.

The name of the short story is "The Vanished Ones". Dragonov is described in detail in the 2E Champions of the Mists. If you don´t have that let me know, i can send you an excerpt. (Edit: sent you a pm)

Perhaps you might also want to tackle the question how Dragonov has lost 3 levels from his Champions of the Mists stats (human ranger 20 (with the Monster Hunter character kit), CG) to his more recent mention in the sidebar on p.84 in Gazetteer 2 (male human afflicted mountain loup-garou Rgr17, CG).
