I'm reading Gazetteer I and started to look for hardcopies of the remaining volumes in the series. I was amazed at how difficult the later volumes (IV and V) are and the prices people wanted for them ($40-60)! Was the print run especially small or is there some reason for the scarsity/price. I know I can pick them up in pdf, but I really prefer a hardcopy. Any advice on where I can find them for a reasonable price (cover price or below)?

How rare are the 3rd edition gazetteers?
Unfortunately the later ones like 4 and 5 are getting very hard to find, especially cheap. I think it was around that time Wizards bought the line so a lot of the copies got destroyed, lost, etc. making it hard to get them. try eBay, rpgshop.com, amazon, etc. You can always try gmaers paradise too if you have that store in the malls around you. If you can find one there, they'll only charge you the MSRP which is 25 or something like that.

I've never "seen" a Gaz in a shop. I only got mine through online purchases, almost exclusively through eBay.
Chronologically the Gaz1 through 3 are much more plentiful than the later ones. Gaz4 took me some searching, and Gaz5 was literally a once-a-year phenomenon on ebay.
You can still buy the downloadable pdfs off of sites like paizo.com and then print them out if you wish. One saving grace of the Ravenloft published materials has been that most of them were in black and white to begin with.

Buy them in PDF, put them on a CD or USB driver, and have them printed double-sided and bound at your local printing shop. The whole will cost you about 15$, a fraction of the ebay cost.

I often see the 5 Gaz's on the amazon.co.uk marketplace, sometimes as low as £10 (approx $20 USD), usually they fetch for about £15 - £20 though, many of them are new. Stores like Forbidden PLanet, Waterstones and Travelling Man here in the UK also stock them from time to time. In fact I saw all the Gaz's in the stores in Nottingham only 2 months ago when I was up visiting the girlfriend.
