Mad Ebay Collectors

Post by Catman Jim »

I thought I was extreme when I paid $100 each for a couple of Ravenloft Adventurers Guild Modules last year on Ebay. Now I see madness is widespread when it comes to "collector" vintage D&D material. Take a look at what some old RPGA modules are going for now, I was outbid & left in the dust on these! Incredible!

RPGA 1

RPGA 2

RPGA 3

RPGA 4

Those aren't the maddest prices I've seen-- that would have been the £1035 (yes, over TWO THOUSAND AND FIFTY US DOLLARS) for the exceedingly rare UK TSR module Up the Garden Path, back in 2005...

I'm so glad I stick to RL collecting only. :)

Even there, Ron! Two RL mini (one of them the elusive Natalia Vorishkova) fetched 45$+ US recently !

You get all box set for this price if you're lucky !

Oh yes, of course RL stuff can get pricey. But you see, I'm almost done, so it's not my problem anymore. ;)

(Current Status: Missing Dungeon #67, The RPGA ultra-rare adventures, 3 mini sets (DL Soth, Soth's Charge, apocryphal Azalin/Suel), and the dicepouch)

:) One of my usual justifications for my geeky hobby is that it's fairly cheap... Guess I can't claim that anymore.

- Though RL stuff is usually pretty cheap compared to the material from the 80s, let alone the 70s. Always depending on the product's estate, of course.

I'd say that must be the most impossible module to found. About, what, 40 copies were released at a convention and nowhere else after that?

Plus, and that's the real scandal, the module is sooo bad... (Saw a copy of it about ten years ago, when noone cared about the collecting value of those items.)

I never saw it, but I must say since I learned of it in Acaeum that I'm really not that interested. As someone put it in their forums, 'those that have them already know that, those that don't know they won't', so... it's a bit pointless.

Plus, I'm not even a collector, only a gamer...

:) It's really not even worth googling... Abstruse story about a treeant or something alike...

I am a bit tempted to start collecting the old Judges Guild stuff, but then again,
that's too much money to spend on a hobby, given the many other interests I have. :)
