Order of the Stick

Order of the Stick

I highly reccomend this for anyone who understands the game mechanics of Dungeons and Dragons.

It's essentially a comic about a 'typical' party, only they'll actually say things like 'Damn it, I think I just failed a spot check'. It makes fun of how quirky some of the game mechanics can be, especially if the players are rules lawyers.

The best part is the 'Game Lawyers' that are apparently hired by a 'Wizard from the Coast'.

Warning: These comics get addictive, as there are currently 276 pages of them.

I learned about this comic last summer and I love it. Elan is such a dear goof. And he has his own sock puppet!

Yeah, and any fans of Tharizdun (I know I can't be the only one here) have gotta love the latest plot line.
Dr. Cornelius Scipio, Rogue monster hunter, and owner of the Inn of the Drunken Wolf.

Rumors of my death are mildly exaggerated. I got better.

Oh my god is that funny!!
Thank you for turning me onto this Undead Cabbage, I was laughing so hard it hurt!!
The people at work kept looking at me thinking I'd lost my mind or something. I only made it to #6 before I had to get back to work before somebody came over to see what in the hell was going on in my office.

I game with quite a few people at work and will make sure that they are aware of this online strip.

Quick question: Is #1 the begining? Or is that the "new" begining? It seems like there might be others before that one but I can't seem to find them, or was the "upgrading" to 3rd addition rules just a lark?

It's been a long time since I found something that funny, so again I say:
Thank You!!

They originally appeared (and still do) in Dragon Magasine. Don't know if they were anywhere before that. :D

No, that's the beginning (TM), they only recently started appearing in Dragon as far as I know. And yeah, it's a fantastic comic, with remarkably deep characters and plots, not to mention that it's just really good fun whether you get the d20 references or not.

Oh did it? Sorry about that! I assumed due to the D&D content that they originated there.

Um, sure, thanks. Ya if you're this entertained at the 6th comic, you're in for 278+ (its been updated, this guy is insane) strips of absolute humor.

Azalin will always be the best lich out there, but I must say, Xykon comes close.

Consequently, the player that showed me these comics is the same player that gave me a sticker for the band 'Better than Ezra' to put on my GM screen. How he plays a LG cleric of Ezra so well, the world may never know.

If you check the rest of his site, you'll see that the writer is actually quite the brilliant GM.

While speaking of D&D-inspired comics, might I draw your attention towards Goblins? It's grim, gritty and graphic, and manages to be remarkably funny at the same time.

Thanks for the tip, Malus. Goblins is great! I've been a regular reader of OOTS for a while now (pretty sure someone posted about it here before). But I never heard of Goblins. nice catch!

I might have to check out this Goblins you speak of. I'm also a big fan of Commisioned.

Well, I've finally read through all of the past panels of Order of the Stick -
and am now a weekly junkie.

My also noticed that my "local" gaming store has the complete collection in book form, so I of course bought it. It's pretty much like the online webcomic, but there are some new comics interjected here and there that weren't online. There is also a new begining/backstory on how the whole thing started.

I went and checked out that comic Malus Black suggested - GOBLINS, and I echo what has already been said about that strip wholeheartedly!
Although I find OOT to be far funnier, GOBLINS has its moments as well.
I like the concept of how they view the "good guys", and the fact that they got the dwarf to question what he and his fellow party members were doing to that poor warcamp.... I was prteey much hooked from that point on.
So I guess I'll be checking out that one on a weekly timeframe as well.

Guess I'll look into MatthiasStormcrow's suggestion and check out Commisioned -
after all, you folks are currently batting 100% thus far.
