Maybe no canon product has said so, because the characters themselves don't know...? It's unlikely that Gabrielle and Alfred asked each others' names, at the time of the attack -- or would have given their real names, if asked -- and they're hardly likely to have recognized each other across a border, since! So it's not to be expected that we'd see it spelled out in black and white, at least in the "in-character" text about the two darklords.
Plus, Alfred's personal history was virtually untouched by the game products, until very, very recently. Tara was a Ravenloft NPC for years before her history was overtly tied to a certain long-suffering redhead; is a belated link between Alfred and Gabrielle any less plausible...?

Actually, after reading her original background, I think she was always meant to be the latest Tatyana, but the Gaz 1 made it a little less subtle and a little more blatent.Rotipher wrote:Maybe no canon product has said so, because the characters themselves don't know...?
