Ravenloft Magic Cards - for real this time

WotC is crossing the streams again: The upcoming Secret Lair: Roll for Initiative Superdrop will include a 4-card set entitled "Strahd's Descent"

This will be 4 existing magic cards, re-skinned as Ravenloft-related with Strahd-related artwork and flavor text.

1x Strefan, Maurer Progenitor as "The Devil Strahd"
1x Bloodletter of Aclazotz as "Cast-Off Consort"
1x End the Festivities
1x Voldaren Estate as "Castle Ravenloft"

Note that these Secret Lairs are sold via a highly annoying and consumer-unfriendly FOMO-based system, where you have to log into the website at a certain time (9am Pacific time, on Monday 2/9) and buy direct from wizards hopefully before they sell out. otherwise, the secondary market will be the only way to get them. This is known to really suck, but that's the way WotC pleases the Hasbro shareholders these days. So I can't in good conscience recommend buying them, but as an obsessive collector, I can't pass them up either.... So take this as a heads-up for those who are like me, and ignore it if you are made of sterner stuff.

They clearly didn't look here, Gonzoron must have gotten sick of me bugging him for his MtG expertise while I was trying to build the custom set hosted in the Mausoleum. WotC had the nerve to suggest Barovia was in Innistrad, not the other way around like we all know! And I pictured Strahd more like Runo Stromkirk, tho. I hope some Ravenloft fans get a hold of some of these cards, not just Post Malone!

Yeah, they aren't allowed to look at outside designs for legal reasons, even if you want them to. This is known. (So they can point to that rule in case anyone tries to sue them for stealing an idea.)

I wish he had been done as Edgar Markov, so I could replace Edgar as the commander of my "all legendary vampires" deck. It's already in Curse of Strahd sleeves. But I guess I'll have to settle for running him in the 99 of the deck, and replace the Strefan that's already there. Just torn whether I replace my Castle Dracula version of Voldaren Estate with the Castle Ravenloft version. I suppose I have to, but I will miss Castle Dracula.

I hope some Ravenloft fans get a hold of some of these cards, not just Post Malone!

I got mine! And I'm not Post Malone (as far as you know ). They are showing up as low stock now, so if you're thinking of picking them up, you'd better hurry. (not that I love to create more FOMO, but that's the reality.)

Well, Secret Lair is supposed to be an opportunity for different art styles that don't match the brand style guide, so they probably just went with it.

Universes Beyond is actually why I got out of MTG. It would have been fine for me if they kept them as limited Secret Lair releases either as reprints of existing cards or with some Universes Within counterparts. But once they started doing full-on sets and grabbing every known IP they could it just took me out of the game.

Just to be clear, I’m not attacking anyone who does enjoy them it just isn’t an experience I enjoy.

Got mine! Unfortunately, there was an issue with the foil version I received, and I ended up with a duplicate of Castle Ravenloft and a missing Cast-Off Cohort. I sent a complaint to wizards and hopefully they'll make it right. Also of note, the bonus card is "Bloody Betrayal" with art and flavor text featuring Tatyana, in case anyone was wondering:
