Re: Ravenloft Artbook of Talon Dunning
Going back through this thread and saving the scanned images.
I think I'm going to buy one book a month just to get more portraits.
I can commit to 20 dollars a month, I've spent that much on MMOs before.
Anyone with me?
By the way, like... two years ago I got another portrait for Christmas from some friends who didn't realize I already owned this book (their hearts were in the right place and I loved getting new portraits).
I'm not sure who it is any more, but I'm going to get it scanned, sorry it's taken this long. Also on that note, I've had the Azalin portrait behind glass since I got it.

I've been saving them all on Mistipedia, in case you want to spare yourself the effort:DoctorMoreau wrote:Going back through this thread and saving the scanned images.

I appreciate the idea, but I only have 5 or so copies left of Out of the Mists and have no intention, at this point, of having more printed. It's possible that I may set them up in the future to sell via Print On Demand through DriveThruRPG, but they won't come with sketches, since those will ship directly from the printers.DoctorMoreau wrote:I think I'm going to buy one book a month just to get more portraits.

Oh, that's awesome! I didn't know you'd been doing that. Thanks!Gonzoron of the FoS wrote:I've been saving them all on Mistipedia, in case you want to spare yourself the effort:

Speaking of the Wiki, is there anyone out there who might be willing to write up a page about me there? I sort of feel like I should have one and (despite having done it before), writing one's own wiki entry is kind of bad form... I'd like to see pages about Ravenloft's other contributing artists and creators there as well. Just a thought.
Re: Ravenloft Artbook of Talon Dunning
I'll ask around my local game store and see if anyone is into writing Wiki articles. (I'm a bit of a techno-savage, unfortunately. Really, I'm about a beard-length away from being Amish.)
As a side note, HOLY CRAP! I do NOT know how I didn't see your gallery of character portraits before. That's awesome! Ever since our local artist left the gaming group, I've always had to scour the internet for someone to do it on commission (always a dubious prospect) or for a picture I can 'appropriate' for a character portrait (which feels like a moral grey area to me).
But a character portrait gallery with permission from the artist to use them for that exact purpose? What a great resource!

Re: Ravenloft Artbook of Talon Dunning
I'm pretty sure I asked your permission several pages back in this thread, or perhaps by email, and you'd said yes. But I'm glad you still agree with your past self, even if you've forgotten.Talon wrote:Oh, that's awesome! I didn't know you'd been doing that. Thanks!

I agree 100% that you should have one, and you do:Speaking of the Wiki, is there anyone out there who might be willing to write up a page about me there? but, it's.... sparse.... or perhaps, nearly completely empty.

The same goes for 90% of the creators that are there:
http://fraternityofshadows.com/wiki/Category:Creator
(and yes, I realize I (or someone else) need to go in there and separate out the creators OF Ravenloft from the creators IN Ravenloft, as they seem to have gotten mixed together... sigh...)
It would be a good Mistipedia project for someone to go and flesh those out. At the very least, a list of what they've worked on would be nice. (like this:

If you can post here, you can edit a wiki. It's really not that hard, I swear! It's a very similar process to what you just did. If you have any desire at all, we'd love to have you give it a go! And that goes for the people at your game store, and anyone else reading this, too...Jimsolo wrote:I'll ask around my local game store and see if anyone is into writing Wiki articles. I remember (now that you mention it), I just hadn't seen the results.Gonzoron of the FoS wrote:I'm pretty sure I asked your permission several pages back in this thread, or perhaps by email, and you'd said yes. Ah! Okay then. I did a search and didn't get any results, so I figured it wasn't there. Yeah, these pages really do need to be filled out, at least with a paragraph or two. If anyone wants to tackle this one, I'll be happy to fill you in on my Ravenloft story (although, as I understand it, personal interviews aren't really acceptable sources, either... Dang. Wiki-writing is tricky...).I agree 100% that you should have one, and you do: http://fraternityofshadows.com/wiki/Talon_Dunning

Is this an acceptable source for a wiki?

And it could link to this: http://www.fraternityofshadows.com/TheP ... Talon.html

Re: Ravenloft Artbook of Talon Dunning
I suppose it would be, but I'm not sure. I'm not all that familiar with Wiki protocol past "don't write your own page," and "stick to facts." Not to mention that that page (which is autobiographical) is as out of date as the rest of my site and doesn't really go into my connection to Ravenloft.Jimsolo wrote:Is this an acceptable source for a wiki?

...Huh. I'd forgotten all about that. In fact, I'm having trouble remembering the circumstances under which that was written. Weird. Well, wiki entries are all about facts, never opinions or supposition, so I suppose that if there's information there worth repeating, it could come in handy. I dunno.Joël of the FoS wrote:And it could link to this: http://www.fraternityofshadows.com/TheP ... Talon.html

Re: Ravenloft Artbook of Talon Dunning
Don't get hung up too much on "wiki protocol". A lot of that is specific to Wikipedia, not the concept of a wiki. Mistipedia is not Wikipedia. Mistipedia welcomes any sort of information about Ravenloft and/or the people who create it. As long as it's clear where the info comes from, it doesn't matter if it's a scholarly paper, a Ravenloft book, a message board discussion, a conversation at a con, or even made up whole cloth. As long as we know where it came from (proper referencing), people can decide on their own how much stock to give it. Honestly, if you want to write your own page, go ahead. I wrote mine.
(though it's not much better populated than Talon's...) Or if someone beats you to it, any of the linked sources are fine.

Re: Ravenloft Artbook of Talon Dunning
OK, I spruced up Talon's Mistipedia page a bit. The list of products there is most likely wrong. I'm AFB and was going by memory. Talon, we're you involved in the VRG's, the DMG, the Denizens books or Dark Tales... ?? I think those might have to come off the list. For all the others, I'm pretty sure I can picture at least one Talon illustration from each book.
