I'll be sure to let him know! Thank you!! By chance, will you have any sketches of Gennifer and Laurie from Van Richten's Arsenal, or the wonderful sketch you did for the Knight of the Shadows PrC? And if so, could you let me know the prices so I could get the money together for my friend to get me one? You may PM me with the prices, if you'd like. :)

I should have all the Ravenloft art I've done with me and for sale, including the two you mention. Both are 8.5x11. Interestingly, these two are back-to-back in my portfolio. ;-) I'll send you the prices. Thanks for the interest!

Just to let everyone know, a while back, Talon gave me permission to use these pictures to illustrate Mistipedia. (Since they never were published in the books, we believe they same legal status as fan art, which is perhaps slightly more legal to use in the wiki than art from the published products.)

So I've just captured all the scans here and put them into place in Mistipedia. If anyone objects to their scan being used this way, let me know. (Though anything published on these forums or elsewhere on our website has been considered fair game for Mistipedia.) Also, if anyone wants to provide a higher-quality scan, that would be great. And if anyone else wants to share theirs that hasn't already done so, please do!

No he did not, and for the most part, can not, from what I understand. Anything that was published by Arthaus or WotC falls under different ownership than these sketch cards. He has permission to publish them himself for his own self-promotion, but not to give anyone else republishing rights to them. And most of the unpublished work on his deviantart pages, while his to do with as he wishes, are not Ravenloft-related.

For the record, as far as I'm concerned, y'all can do whatever you like with the JPEGs on my website and DA page as long as you don't substantially alter it and I get proper credit as the creator of the art. That said, you're correct in that any of the images displayed in my various "Professional" pages or folders are the intellectual property of the clients who commissioned them and fall under the same copyright as the published material. Downloading Ravenloft art from my websites is no different, legally, than scanning the published art out of the books. Of course, the internet being what it is, the use of a few copyrighted images on a fan-site is generally overlooked. Such copyright is very difficult and very expensive to enforce and, especially if the website in question takes steps to acknowledge the original copyright ownership, publishers (or whoever) are usually pretty forgiving when it comes to such violations. I myself have a website, http://www.arcane-marks.com, with a section that is pretty well dedicated to the "fair use" of copyrighted material. I have original game material there based on The Dark Crystal and Star Wars, for instance, which I give away for free. The website itself also utilizes quite a bit of artwork which I don't actually have permission to use. No, it's not strictly "legal," but its not like the Intellectual Property Police are going to drag me away at any moment. Morally speaking, as I was careful to acknowledge the original copyright holders on the site, I feel that I'm in good territory.

That said, I can certainly understand the desire to avoid any such "Imperial entanglements," and the desire to just "fly casual." As such, you're all more than welcome to use any of the Ravenloft "fan art" I create and post, as well as any of the art from my "Personal Art" pages or folders. Although there isn't much in the way of Ravenloft-specific art there, this includes the PC Portraits found on arcane-marks.com, which I provide in high-resolution for fans to download and print for their own use. Here's a few links to pics that you may find useful:

Thanks. I was rather pleased with it myself. I drew it at Dragon*Con and was able to get it done on the same day I started it, so I wasn't able to bring it home and scan it before handing it over to its commissioner. That's why all I have is a crappy photo of it. I have hope that the owner will send me a scan of it one day, but I'm not holding my breath.

I understand. Perhaps you'll be pleasantly surprised, though. Especially if the person is a fan of Ravenloft and a member here. :) Oh, and so you know, I have recently turned a friend of mine into a fan of your art as well. Just thought I'd share.

Thanks, Talon! I grabbed the pics on that list, and found some places they could go in Mistipedia. Thanks again for your help, and of course, your wonderful artwork.

My pleasure! It's all about you guys! And the art. And the gigantic piles of money I make doing this. Okay, that last part was a lie, it's just about you guys and the art.

Those pics are really awsome :D I think I will buy a set of them myself. I was also wondering if there is a sketch of Lord Soth :) 'cause he is one of my favourite characters. (together with Van Richten and I really like that sketch too :-)

Thanks. Buy a set of what? My sketchbook? You can order a copy through my website, http://www.arcane-marks.com/store.html I wasn't able to do an official portrait of Soth since that character wasn't part of White Wolf's deal with WOtC, presumably because of his connection to Dragonlance. Vecna was likewise not included. Both characters were written out of the 3e edition of Ravenloft and replaced with (I believe) new Darklords. If you would like to have me do a sketch card of Lord Soth, make sure to indicate such with your sketchbook order, otherwise, you'll just get a randomly selected 3e character.

Note that I also have copies of my 2011 Mutants & Masterminds sketchbook, "Big Damn Heroes" available as well, however, I haven't been able to set up a purchase button for it on my site yet (I lost access to Adobe GoLive when I upgraded to OSX Lion and probably won't get a copy of Dreamweaver until Christmas). If anyone would like one of those, let me know and I'll work something out. They're the same price as "Out Of The Mists," $15 or $20 with a sketch.
