Venture Captain James Weylan

Venture Captain James Weylan is the Venture Captain and leader of the Pathfinder Society within Ustalav. He is also Ustalav's Darklord. Durings his adventuring days as an agent of the Pathfinder Society, James Weylan was once dispatched to explore some burial mounds within Ustalav with some other colleagues. During that expedition, James Weylan explored a chamber with a sarcophagus while his comrades continue forward. Further in, they encountered some undead whom began to massacre them. Meanwhile, James Weylan found some discoveries of monumental historical importance. Not wanting to share the glory or the rewards with his fellow Pathfinders and friends, he consciously abandoned them to die at the hands of the undead. The Mists swirled around him and made him the darklord of Ustalav.

James Weylan is the Venture Captain of the Pathfinder Society within Ustalav (and thus the rest of the Core). James Weylan sends his agents callously into missions with concern only for what they bring back for him. The Dark Powers torment him with contradictory facts about the past of the world and even his own past. Furthermore, as a formerly avid explorer, Weylan chafes at not being able to leave the borders of Ustalav. Perhaps his greatest torment is that he cannot seem to rediscover his homeland, the island nation of Absalom.
