Praskovia Voronov and her husband Arkady Voronov were ethnic Russians living in the colony of New Archangel in Alaska when it was handed over to the United States of America, subsequently becoming known as Sitka. Although the vengeful Praskovia simpyly wanted to abandon their hometown, Arkady was more trusting of the legal system and made objections and protests to the behavior of the Americans. While he was away, American soldiers tortured and murdered Praskovia. Arkady tried to make it to an out-going ship for asylum, but the cold waters took him and he died. Praskovia subsequently arose as an odem.[1]

The Gothic Earth writeup of Praskovia Vornov is very loosely based on the fictional character of the same name from James Michener's book Alaska. [2]
