Perseyus Lathenna

Perseyus Lathenna is a gnome wizard, who has lived her entire life in Gyda, Valachan. A friend of Dr. Rudolph van Richten, she survived an encounter with Lady Adeline that left her badly maimed in 731 BC, with the loss of her left hand and the loss of several fingers from the right hand. She has corresponded with the Weathermay-Foxgrove Twins, having met (and received a good amount of moral support and spiritual guidance from) Dr. van Richten when he was investigating the Laughing Man of Valachan, and instructed them in several arcane spells she had gathered herself and solicited from her correspondents.

Regrettably, Persyus has cut off contact with the Twins upon learning that they have gone beyond compiling Dr. Van Richten's notes and are actively hunting dangerous monsters. Believing the Twins to be dilettantes who are endangering themselves, she has declared that she will not correspond with them until and unless they promise to give up the Hunt, and has warned off other scholars of the arcane to do the same, depriving the Twins of a valuable resource.

"S" comments in Gazetteer III that Lathenna is responsible for writing the majority of the books written in Valachan (which number less than twelve). According to "S", Lathenna's work is reviled by the majority of Valachani society.
