Notes on Animation

Notes on Animation is a work credited to Creighton Arkwright that addresses one or more problems in the creation of machines with the semblance of autonomous life. In particular it is known to address the matter of powering them. The work is effectively dark desire incarnate. As a gift to someone going to the trouble of acquiring the book, for example Howard Lumley who commissioned its theft from Lamordia by the Vistani, the Dark Powers wave the spellcasting requirements of a proper Golem Manual in exchange for the tacit acceptance of both their minute scrutiny and the "boon" of the dread golem template for the resulting golem. At least minimal proficiency in the spellcraft skill should probably also be waved. Proficiency in mechanics is a prerequisite for understanding the work. Part of the work's curse is that it survives the completion of the golem and so may contribute to the downfall of more than one individual. The Order of the Guardians is aware of the book's existence, having warned Lumley against its use, and would like to, if it hasn't already done so, acquire it and put it safely beyond use. More than one copy of the work may exist however.
