Murduc is a minor character from Dance of the Dead (Novel). In the book, he is a poisoner, poisonmaker, and herbalist and associate of Lond. Murduc was so hated within the neighborhood of Port d'Elhour that he would have died years ago had he not received the protection of Lond. Murduc's tiny shack was located within the worst part of the Past-the-Port slums, across from the Cat and Mouse Tavern.[1]

Biography

Senile, old, and filthy, Murduc was nonetheless called upon by Lond to provide poisons, spell components, and herbal concoctions. Murduc was not entirely reliable in his service of Lond, as Murduc on at least one occasion caused the death of a former lover of Lond by giving him a lethal poison instead of the aphrodisiac that Lond had ordered.[2]

Eventually, Murduc's usefulness to Lond ran its course, ending the protection it had brought. Shortly before trying to leave Souragne via La Demoiselle du Musarde, Lond purchased a large number of supplies from Murduc in return for a quite generous payment, which caused the delighted old man to exclaim he would not need to work another day in his life. However, shortly after exiting Murduc's hut, Lond spoke with a group of murderers and told them the payment was theirs if they killed Murduc. As he walked off, Murduc's hovel was set ablaze.[3] Given Murduc's way of speaking, he may have been of Forfarian descent.
