A former priest turned militant atheist, Ludwig Hecht wants to be a believer in the divine and the supernatural deep down, but his skepticism is such that he and his followers oppress all religious devotees and people claiming supernatural abilities in his domain. Hecht's disbelief is fueled by the fact that (unknown to him) any supernatural abilities or phenomena are suppressed in his presence.[1]
