Kevlin was a priest who traveled with Rudolph van Richten during his investigations of ghosts. The other members of their party were the dwarf Geddar Ironheart (who lost his life on one of their quests[1]) and the swashbuckler Bantur[2]. Kevlin was a cleric, and while the name of his deity has never been identified, the holy symbol of his faith was a silver trident [3].
Since no known deity in Ravenloft has this symbol, it is likely that he was an outlander. Possibly a worshipper of the god of the seas from Oerth, Procan, whose symbol is a trident.

Kevlin is mentioned on the TSR Collector Card #320, as the leader of The Servants of the Iron Crown. It is unclear if this is supposed to be the same character or not. While both are priests, it seems unlikely that a powerful evil priest and leader of a sect dedicated to taking over Falkovnia would travel with Van Richten and hunt ghosts.
