Part of the Rajian Pantheon worshiped in Sri Raji, the goddess Kali is the Rajian goddess of not only destruction and death but also creation and new life. Also called the Black Mother, Kali revels in murder. However, with death she establishes new life.[1][2] The people of Sri Raji view her with awe as a figure who holds great influence over their daily lives.[3] The Grand Conjunction is commonly referred to by the Rajian people as the "Rebirth of Kali", a time when she annihilated the old world and birthed it anew.[1][2] Since the Grand Conjunction, Kali has seen an upsurge in worship, both within Sri Raji and even sometimes without.[4]

In Sri Raji, Kali's high priest is Arijani, who commands Kali's cult of killers known as The Dark Sisters.[1][2] Arijani commands the cult from a temple in the ruined city of Bahru. Daily, a person from one of Sri Raji's cities is chosen as a sacrifice in Kali's name. Once the person is selected, he or she is delivered to Arijani, who personally devours the "Chosen of Kali".[3]

Although all of Mahakala is dedicated to Kali, the temple includes an especially dedicated room which bears her name.[5]
