Imogen Schlosser is the third oldest persona of the Tanar'ri Devoratrix known as the Red Haunt. This persona is first introduced in Quoth the Raven Issue 27, The Conferences of Victor Gagné IV.

Appearance

Observer Victor Gagné has noted that Imogen is short, but compact; the way she moves and carries herself put him in mind of a cat. She has dark eyes and dark hair, which she ties back in a purely utilitarian fashion, and typically wears black robes with runes embroidered at the hems in thread of silver. The most striking element of her appearance may be a pair of ruby earrings.

History

Imogen was 'born' out of the Red Haunt's insane essence in 588 BC, after Charissa Schlosser and 'Mother' had been gathering funds for their education in Darkon for approximately seven years -- through brigandage, murder and theft -- and the Fiend had enrolled herself at the University of Il Aluk.

Imogen personifies the Red Haunt's hunger for arcane knowledge. While she was certainly interested - even invested - in finding a way to break free from the Demiplane of Dread, she did not disdain any other type of knowledge. During her education, Imogen designed new spells, paid visits to the Great Cemetery to increase her knowledge of the undead and necromancy, and studied the construction of wondrous items. The only wrinkle in her otherwise stellar academic path was a brief feud with Boyce Vinctus -- but Imogen never considered the arrogant young man to be more than an amusing distraction, and she almost forgot about him over time.

Imogen is also the first persona of the Red Haunt to intuit the existence of the Dark Powers; her experiments in finding a way to escape the Demiplane failed for reasons that were wholly illogical and defied the exhaustive preparations and research that had preceded them. Over time, she combined Vistani lore with her own observations of inexplicable setbacks, and reached the conclusion that not only were the shadowy overlords of the Demiplane a grim reality, but they were actively interfering with her work, as well as the work of her 'sisters'.

Around 738 BC, Imogen found that Meredoth had sent Lebendtod agents to her home on Darkon's eastern border. While the creatures pretended to be there to serve her, the Fiend had no trouble recognizing their true intent; in short order, she interrogated and dissected them, learning the method of their creation. As Nebligtode's Darklord made subsequent attempts to invade her home and plunder the contents of her spellbooks, Imogen investigated Meredoth. She was disgusted by the old Necromancer's character and disdain for any kind of knowledge not associated with arcane magic, and has since resolved to kill and rob him. To this end, she has started a scheme with the aid of her 'sisters' Katia Schlosser and Harmony Schlosser, which should see Todstein sink into the sea and force Meredoth out into the open -- where the Fiend fully intends to ambush him and tear him apart.

Personality

Even centuries after she first started studying the subject, Imogen is still highly enthusiastic about arcane magic, and she continues to spend a lot of her time in study. When interacting with Victor Gagné, Imogen projected a kind of robust friendliness. Professing herself unskilled in the social arena, due to 'too much time spent attending or giving lectures', Imogen displayed a tendency to talk too much and listen too little -- but only when engaged in 'casual' conversation. When discussing arcane theory, she is both an engaging conversationalist and an excellent teacher, willing to correct others' mistakes with sound arguments and by providing evidence, rather than browbeating them.

In spite of this, it should be mentioned that Imogen is not merely the qabal's strongest arcane spellcaster, but also its undisputed master in the area of creating and training undead minions. While Imogen dislikes entering melée combat, she is not shy about meeting hostility head-on, be it with words or ranged hit-and-run tactics involving highly pragmatic -- and highly cruel -- spellcasting. Even in a relaxed setting, she is not to be trusted; she is perfectly capable of winkling important information out of people she is talking with, all without giving them a clue what she is after and why it is important.
