Gustavstan floats in the Sea of Sorrows as an island and domain far off the western shore of Dementlieu. It is a well off country, with both hardwood lumber in the center of the island and arable land along the coast to exploit for natural resources. Gustavstan's people have (at least historically) been able to enjoy low taxes, and they are more often than not able to find the time to enjoy hobbies such as woodcarving. However, there is a figurative dark cloud rising over the nation. Taxes are rising, and bribery, extortion, and social factionalism are beginning to take their toll.[3]
The corruption rotting away at Gustavstan is largely due to the series of misfortunes, misunderstandings, and murders that have resulted in the decline of the Gustav Baronial Family. Most notably, the new Baron Gustav the Younger is entangled with his struggle for vengeance and power against the ghost of his father Baron Gustav the Elder, leaving the officials and other powers that be to conflict with each other for the true power behind the the throne.[4]
Gustafstan was created by Stefan Mac.
