The Gossamer Saugh are a type of incorporeal undead[1][2] created to serve in the saugh armies of Prince Loht.[1] Though they pretended to serve Loht, the gossamers (and all other saugh) from the beginning truly obeyed Gwydion and only served Loht's orders until their pretenses were no longer convenient for Gwydion.[1] Since the revelation of Gwydion's treachery and his maiming of Loht, the Arak have made efforts to wipe out the saugh, though to limited effect.[2]
A gossamer appears as a warped, partially translucent version of its living self, surrounded by an shimmering, wispy silhouette.[1] The gossamer feeds off of the life energy of its victims through its touch that inflicts negative energy damage and Constitution ability damage.[1] Gossamers show particular skill in making surprise attacks.[1]
As with all saugh, gossamers dwell within the Shadow Rift, the gossamers particularly inhabiting the Black Marsh.[3][2]
