Gavel

Gavel was the mercenary leader hired by Byron Ashington-Welles to protect the Blessed Hall of Ashington hospice at Ashington Manor. However, Gavel was secretly an evil man responsible for the rape and murder of one of Hala's priestesses, an incident he successfully covered up as the priestess simply leaving the hospice. Although Gavel escaped judgement for this transgression, Gavel met a messy end as a target of the Ashington Curse that afflicts the manor. Under the baleful influence of Maekon, Gavel and his closest subordinates went on a killing spree through the manor before attacking each other. Maekon killed the last remaining using her death gaze.

Decades later, Ashington Manor has been caught in a strange temporal distortion, where its various past tragedies are replayed in alternating time shifts. During the time of the hospice era time shifts, Gavel is not really present but his likeness is fused with that of Lord Herod Ashington, the manor's first mass murderer.
