Marcus Ruscheider is the son of Dr. Harmon Ruscheider and a monster hunter. He is also a friend and colleague of the Weathermay-Foxgrove Twins, whom he called upon to help hunt the Telling Man.[1] Marcus made some contributions to Van Richten's Guide to the Mists (Item).[2]

Background

As related in Van Richten's Guide to the Lich, Harmon Ruscheider became imprisoned by an Invidian lich but managed to escape and inform Dr. van Richten before perishing. Following his father's death, Marcus became a monster hunter.[3]

Marcus called upon the assistance of Gennifer Weathermay-Foxgrove and Laurie Weathermay-Foxgrove to help hunt down the Telling Man in Ludendorf, where Ursula Viller had become the Telling Man's victim. They failed to capture the Telling Man there. Later, in Dementlieu, Marcus' carriage driver Jacques (Carriage Driver) met his end, defending his prized horses from the Telling Man. Still later, in Ste. Ronges, Marcus was almost murdered by the Telling Man, though he was saved by the twins after having apparently been judged to not be vain enough to warrant the Telling Man's punishment. The Telling Man would've killed him anyway save not for the intervention of the twins. Ruscheider and the Twins attempted to lure the creature into an ambush at Heather House, though the tables became turned as the Telling Man attacked Gennifer, though a rallying of the household thwarted the Telling Man.[4]
