Born in 723 BC, James Mousel is the son of Francois Mousel and Joelle Fontaine.[1] He is the grandson of Bernadette d'Honaire Mousel and Hugues Mousel and the great-grandson of Germain d'Honaire and [[[2] James is married to Marie Chirac. They have two teenage children.[3]

James' relations with his d'Honaire relatives in Dementlieu have been estranged ever since 733 BC. Following a visit from Gerard d'Honaire, the Mousel Family were attacked by assassins. Both Hugues and Bernadette lost their lives, but James managed to save Francois' life. James attributed the attack as vengeance on the Mousels from Maurice d'Honaire for their defiance of Germain's will. James further extended his animosity to most of the Dementlieuse clan. Only his recent correspondence with the young Celeste d'Honaire-Loverde has worked towards the appearance of repairing any relations. In the approximate year of 756 BC, Celeste paid him a visit. He gently pushed her to work with Dr. Vilhelm Mikki back in Chateaufaux.[4] Celeste has brought some accord between between James and Dominic d'Honaire such that they regularly mail correspondence back and forth.[5] For his part, James has put in his part to smooth things over with Dominic regarding her visit. However, James may have inadvertently complicated things for Celeste and the other wayward children of the d'Honaire family.[6] For her part, Celeste has convinced James into lending his assistance toward her discernment of the secrets of Dominic's seemingly preternatural influence[7]

Like his father, grandmother, and great-grandfather, James is a physician that specializes in the treatment of madness. He has worked in the Mousel Sanitarium for Mental Health to develop the Analytical Method by the time Francois retired in 752 BC. Francois left the Sanitarium under James' care, though Francois still contributes from time to time.[4] More recently, James' investigations have turned more esoteric, such that it may be drifting towards something profound akin to the occult.[5]
