Dr. Berthold Hoftmann

Dr. Berthold Hoftmann is the current lead administrator for the Hoftmann Hospital. He is highly respected as a pioneer in his field, though the weight of his work is said to be wearing on him. In truth, he suffers from the same malignant influence that torments many of his patients in their dreams: that of the Lurker. Yet his rational mind cannot fathom this and explains it as some disease explicable by science. Dr. Hoftman is totally ignorant to the fact that the hospital's caretaker, Otto Krieger, is in league with the Lurker. For his part, Krieger is a corrupt and bitter man all on his own, for he sells the bodies of the deceased to Victor Mordenheim.
