Dejanira was sent by Aphrodite's then high priestess to seduce Hercules. He fell in love with her, but to everyone's surprise, she fell in love with him as well. She confessed her sins and also told him about the conspiracy against him. Although her admission reflected love, Hercules could only see betrayal. However, he feigned forgiveness and conspired with her to turn the tables on the Seven Voices of the Gods. Upon contronting them, he her through the chest and threw her corpse at the Seven's circle of summoning, breaking their ritual.[1]

Unfortunately for her and Hercules, her geist still haunts him, draining him of the vital spark of personality he once had. This is not purposeful, for she remains as loyal and devoted to him in undeath as she was in life. it is his curse and his guilt[2]
