Category talk:Lycanthrope

A note... I would love to put this into Category:Humanoid, but by the RAW, (in 3.x) Lycanthropes can be humanoids OR giants. So it doesn't fit cleanly in either place. -- Gonzoron 18:37, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

For my two wolf's fangs, I would put it in both with a note. Not every category can fit perfectly and the criteria should not be perfection but rather usability.Cure 06:09, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

I don't see any easy way of adding infected lycanthrope. Not worth the bother?Cure 19:55, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Well, we can easily make a Category:Infected Lycanthrope, put it under Category:Lycanthrope, and then tag the relevant NPC's. Is that a problem somehow? -- Gonzoron 14:41, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
I was thinking it should fit into the tree, rather than stand beside it. But putting it into the tree leads to unpleasantnesss, as one ends up with werewolf infected and werewolf natural, etc.Cure 06:09, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Agreed. I don't think we need infected and natural (and afflicted!) categories for each phenotype. A single label is fine. the point with the "Tree" is that every "folder" fits completely in every folder above it. So, since it's obviously true that all infected lycanthropes are lycanthropes, it's OK to put it there. Since only some infected lycanthropes are werewolves, it should NOT go in the werewolf category. But if, for example, Gennifer W-F is tagged with both werewolf and infected lycanthrope, (and human) both paths up the lycanthrope branch of the tree end up in the same place, so it's fine. The goal is that you can start at GWF's page and go up the tree as far as you like and you shouldn't find any category that she doesn't fit into. -- Gonzoron 19:11, 9 March 2010 (UTC)

Mangrum's Lore needs to be cleaned up a bit further as it was not penned exclusively for Ravenloft (http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19546370/Monster_Lore_Compendium?post_id=332153698#332153698). In particular the conditions for a cure need to corrected. Note that I left the full moon stuff, as perhaps only at higher DC's does one realise that the literature supports many different trigger conditions.Cure

Mangrum already noted on that thread that the chemical allergen part and the "full details of the cleansing cure" part are Ravenloft-specific. Since Mistipedia is Ravenloft-specific, I see no need to highlight them as he did by underlining. So I think its fine as is, no? -- Gonzoron 14:12, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

I missed the full ritual stuff at the end. I did add "with luck" as success is not assured in Ravenloft.Cure 15:12, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
