The wereowl^[1] is a type of lycanthrope with an owl phenotype, often that of a great horned owl, screech owl, or barn owl] in temperate lands and a snowy owl in colder lands. Although afflicted wereowls have the same difficulties with feeding and bloodthirstiness as other lycanthropes do, the wereowl is not evil by nature much like another avian lycanthrope, the wereraven. Natural wereowls are among the most reclusive of lycanthropes, making an encounter with one a rare thing indeed.

Wereowls have an innate hatred for wererats and usually try their best to destroy them when encountered. Note that the wereowl never updated to 3.x Edition, so the creature types assigned below are speculative.
