A natural disaster is an event involving the forces of nature causing violent damage to people or property.

Natural disasters are distinct from man-made disasters only in the origin of the disaster, though both involve a significant loss of life or at least significant damage to property. A strong earthquake taken together with its effects would be an example of a natural disaster. The spell earthquake and the deaths and destruction resulting from its casting would constitute instead a man-made disaster.

Disasters created on the part of the gods or of the Dark Powers are considered natural disasters. Additionally, the curses of mortals that result in the violent deployment of the forces of nature against people or property are also natural disasters in that the curses are actually fulfilled by the Dark Powers, not mortal magic.
