Amaranth Churnstone

The identical twin sister of the later vampiric Darklady of Lilliend, Camille Churnstone.

History

Amaranth was born in the Prime Material version of Lilliend as half of a set of identical twins to the noble Churnstone family. In spite of being identical twins, Amaranth lacked her twin's capacity for both poetry and sorcery. She more than compensated for this with her great energy, social skills, and motivation to make something of her life. She personally found a young man she considered to be worth claiming as a fiancé, and was heavily involved in the arrangements for their marriage.

When her normally indolent twin started throwing tantrums, demanding the engagement be cancelled and Amaranth prevented from leaving the family home, Amaranth personally chastised Camille and made it very clear to her sister that the marriage was of her will, and nothing and nobody was going to stand in her way -- not even her closest blood relative.

It is unknown how Amaranth felt when Camille committed suicide shortly afterwards, an event which outside observers might have interpreted as being an act of despair at the prospect of losing her sister, nor the fact that her twin's remains were interred with unseemly haste in order to prevent a stain of ill fortune from affecting her marriage.

Regardless, either the marriage went forward or else Amaranth married someone else at a later date. Amaranth bore several children, and in the fullness of time died of natural causes. Her line of descent on the Prime Material Plane was tragically extinguished when Camille awoke as a vampire and tried to cultivate a replacement of Amaranth to serve as her perfect mate. Arguably, the line continues on the Demiplane of Dread, depending on just how the Dark Powers recreated the Churnstone bloodline in the version of Lilliend they created to serve as Camille's domain. In either case, Amaranth appears to have been allowed to continue to rest in peace, as she has no presence in her insane sister's realm.
