Darklings are evil outcasts of The Vistani. When a raunie pronounces judgement on a vistani who has committed heinous crimes, she hurls the vishnadd dagger at his or her feet. The outcast always picks up the dagger and becomes a darkling, bound to the land and never able to travel the mists again. Sources differ on exactly what this means. RLMCI says darklings are bound to a single domain. Champions of Darkness says they are bound to a single mist-bound region, such as a cluster or The Core.
The Vistani always arrive to retrieve the bodies of darklings after their death.
Darklings can be encountered within Darkon (especially near the Mountains of Misery).[1]
