Darklings are evil outcasts of The Vistani. When a raunie pronounces judgement on a vistani who has committed heinous crimes, she hurls the vishnadd dagger at his or her feet. The outcast always picks up the dagger and becomes a darkling, bound to the land and never able to travel the mists again. Sources differ on exactly what this means.
