I'Cath Question

After many thousands of years, I will be starting another Ravenloft game (using GURPS again). One of my players really wants to be from an Asian-themed domain. The 3e book has something on Rokushima Taiyou, IIRC. But I also know that there's I'Cath--which I vaguely remember as being fairly barren. I also recall that someone did a fan version that made it into a playable domain, with, like people and everything. Does anyone remember where this is from?

Well, there was an attempt circa 2006 to collaborate on a second continent in the demiplane, which was nicknamed Asianloft. We got about as far as broad brushstrokes of the domain themes and placeholder alternative kingdoms for three Chinese style domains, a Japanese style island, and two Mongol/Manchu style domains.

A search for "Asianloft" would probably bring it up. I seem to recall one of the strings in that thread was "Jorpuk" which I believe would not return any false hits, as it's so unique. Good luck!

Doesn't that sound like the Ravenloft equivalent to the Kara-Tur nations (at least to use as a basis to flesh out the minor details...).

I can say that my work was a Sinocentric representation of medieval Asia. So if Karatur is drawn from Sinocentric medieval Asia as its basis, then it really shouldn't be surprising that they're similar.

Well, I never actually had the product line. I just did some impromptu research for another pc's backstory using this wiki link:

Not sure how similar they are, but if enough time and effort is going to spent in this domain/cluster, then it may be worth one's while.

I see Giamarga beat me to it (thanks!), but I'm the primary developer of the Kaidan setting of Japanese horror (PFRPG). I am currently working on the final parts of the Kaidan GM's Guide and a Kaidan players guide, after a successful Kickstarter to pay for it last year. My goal was more than to create Ravenloft's oriental realms, rather to create a default Asian setting for Pathfinder, which also happens to be a realm of horror.

I am a longtime fan of Ravenloft, and as a Japanese American, I have never been satisfied with the various oriental settings created in D&D, I wanted something more authentic, so I created Kaidan. Kaidan is an archaic Japanese word that means "ghost story" or "creepy tale".
