The Gentleman Caller considers the Beast his greatest failing as a sire, she is the antithesis of Malocchio, his greatest accomplishment.

The Beast's great lonliness is causing her to lash out at the people who deem her a freak and a spawn of evil. But recently, she has been dreaming of music and laughter, whoops of joy and fear mingled together

She knows that the dreams are telling her where to seek answers to her questions about her lineage and her past, but she is scared to look for what she'd find.

However, when a piece of paper was lying on the ground in her cave one morning, she bent and looked and read one word; "Carnival". There she will find everything she wants and more...

Vecna and Kas both disappeared from the Mists during Vecna's Ascension to full Godhood. But what happened to Tovag and Cavitus? What of those left behind like the vampire Harlon? Have Tovag and Cavitus now dispersed, or is there a new Darklord rotting at their cores?

Both domains vanished into the Mists, but many of the inhabitants are still around. While the majority of both domains were killed, a few managed to escape by some manner of luck, either scattered through the Mists or escaping Ravenloft entirely wth Vecna. Many of the former inhabitants of both domains wound up in Kalidnay, where camps have been established to continue their old warring ways. Others have discarded their violent upbringing and are exploring the Land of Mists. Strangely, enterprising Vistani are continually finding more castaways lost in the Mists; some speculate that the populations of both domains have been fugued awaiting their eventual migration into other domains.

The Engineer is Klorr, creator of the infamous Timepiece and other time-related magical items. Klorr's madness is similar to Emil Bollenbach's; he knows he's created something evil and is desperate to remedy it by creating something better to fix it. Unfortunately, his creations are always tainted and cursed.

Whilst nothing he has made has reached the true evil of the Timepiece, it is only a matter of time. Currently, he is working on a Grandfather clock. He is not sure of its true purpose, as it seems to be creating itself...

Okay, I read a summary of the book, and I'll try:

Marguerite was returned to Darkon, where her memories were altered by the domain to restore her sanity. She did not recall the same parents, and thus didn't stay with them, so the question of their anger with her is moot. The vampire who once lusted after her stalks her from afar, but she has an unseen guardian: the monstrous child she conceived with Ramus now thwarts the vampire. Marguerite has started suspecting that something is amiss, and has determined that her time outside Darkon is connected, but Ramus has appeared to her and warned her never to leave. Ramus still cares for her in his own way, and doesn't want her fragile world to be destroyed. Still, Ramus can only check in on her once a year, and Marguerite is not sure she's going to listen to this beautiful stranger she almost remembers....

A group of gentlemen-adventurers decided to burn the wescote manor and hastly leave the haunted place. But the bog had come too close to the building and the foundations survived de fire. Anne Campbell's curse still lingered in the Moor, wich is getting bigger and bigger. Her ultimate goal is to erradicate the Wescote family name from the living memory of the poeplo of Mordent. When S. stumbled upon it during her travels trhough Mordent, she only found an crazy old man living among rubble. "What can you tell me about the Wescotes, old man?" she inquiried. "They're all around here, young lass, somewhere in the moor; can't you hear them?". Clearly, the man was insane; she could only hear a vague animal sound in the distance, like a bark or a howl.

S. left the moore and took some notes. She spend the night in a village not too far from the bog; the food was fine but the water had a very strange and unpleasant taste. The next day she found some of her notes missing but, curious thing, couldn't remember what they were about. Surely something unimportant. Had breakfast -the water was terrible- and left to continue her research on the other noble families. Too bad she couldn't find any information about-- What was their name again?

Lanus didn't return to post a hook. Guess we need another one.

Hmmm.... How about a "hook" that may actually get into the SoS Gaz? :D

* * * * *

On the north coast of Markovia, huge, gray stone figures line the shore, arms and heads stretching up from the earth. Their frozen features bear expressions of desperation and suffering, and they reach out as if for aid, like drowning men. The jungle's vines have grown to cover their necks and upper arms on land, since these tremendous statues appeared during the Grand Conjunction, while barnacles and mussels encrust those whose shoulders are inundated by the lapping tides.

In Neither Man Nor Beast, the Great Stone Men were no more than a "red herring", to confuse players with too much OOC knowledge about Ravenloft. But that was their metagame function, for just one adventure: what's the real story behind these vast statues ... if, in fact, they are only statues, and not living beings transformed into hapless stone?

The Great Stone Men are the remains of an army of fomorian giants who were turned to stone by Althea, the Darklord of Demise. They have been brought from her homeworld into Ravenloft during the Grand Conjunction when Althea escaped briefly to her homeworld. Althea's discovery of these Stone Men started her back onto the road of lucidity, and her burgeoning sanity may soon swell her domain proportionately and bring the Stone Men back into her domain.

Circle of Darkness Map Encounters: A section of the G'Hennan wasteland known as the Frying Pan is inhabited by an elven mage named Valuan who became trapped in G'Henna years ago. The elf mage's windmill is a potential resting place for travelers, but Valuan despises the local humans. He's struck up a peaceful coexistence with a tribe of kobolds in the region, and may lure travelers into their clutches.

Where is Valuan from, and why does he hate humans so much? Why was he trapped in G'Henna? Is he still in the frying pan area, or has he moved to more habitable parts of that domain--or another?

Valuan is an outlander, once a mathematician on a continent of elves. When the first example of a new race -- humans -- arrived on his homeland's shores as friendly traders, Valuan calculated that their rapid reproductive rates would allow these short-lived beings to swiftly and inevitably displace the elven civilization, while irreparably damaging the continental ecosystem. The fact that these particular humans were peaceful and inoffensive didn't sway him; trusting his math's abstractions more than the strangers' benign intentions, Valuan arranged to frame the new arrivals for crimes against nature and elven autonomy.

Had his ruse actually worked, and the innocent humans been executed, Valuan would have been claimed by the Mists as a darklord, not merely an outlander. As it happens, his lies were uncovered before any great harm could be done; by that time, however, the Mists had already taken him. Rather than granting him a prison of his own, they deposited him in the most desolate corner of a withered domain, where he pig-headedly blames the wastelands' miserable condition on the G'hennans' famished overexploitation.

_ _ _ _ _

At the beginning of Van Richten's Guide to Ghosts, the author tells of his very first sighting of an apparition: a nightmarish carriage drawn by a skeletal team, under the lash of a bone coachman's lightning-whip. Desperate, fleshly hands reach pleadingly from the accursed vehicle's windows, and a crashing storm invariably trails behind it. What is the origin of the Thundering Carriage, and what dark fate awaits those who lie captive within?

The Thundering Carriage was born of a curse. An orphaned boy managed to avoid starvation through his employment in a city stable. The stable was home to many of the horses used to pull the city cabs. The lad not only kept the stable clean and the animals fed, he also tended to the cuts and injuries of the beasts and developed a rapport of friendship with them.

An unexpected chance saw him thrust into the role of a cab driver one dark night. After a handful of uneventful fares, he was hailed by a rake who boarded the carriage with a beautiful young lady in tow. The destination was a luxurious villa, with a party in full swing, where he was ordered to wait. Several hours later the rake returned alone, manifestly inebriated, and demanded to be taken home with all haste. The young driver set off at a quick pace, even as rain began to fall and lightning brightened the eastern sky. The rake, however, was not content with the far from reckless pace and called out for the driver to spare nothing in speeding the trip. The young driver, however, had no intention of laying whip upon the horses that he so loved and moreover had the gall to say so to the rake, whereupon the rake ordered the carriage be stopped and set to whipping the driver. As the young lad lay dying on the ground and as the rake mounted into his seat and set the carriage careening off with a savage whipping of the horses, a curse was whispered by the former and visited upon the latter: "may you and your kind die under the lash that you so carelessly wield against others". Whereupon the next lash of the whip dealt to the horses of the carraige was joined by a bolt of lightning that tore through the flesh of the rake, the animals, and back through the carriage itself. Each subsequent lash was similarly charged, although not always accompanied by a visible bolt from above. With each lash the flesh of the still living driver and animals sizzled away and jerked wildly as the carriaged careened forward at an ever greater pace. The carriage flashed down the main avenue of the city, out the city gate, and off into the country side, at an unmatched speed, and continued so until dawn, whereupon the driver, animals and carriage where consumed utterly by a great bolt of lightning.

This was not, however, the end of them. The damned rake, the unfortunate animals, and the carriage reappear in that same city on dark stormy nights. The rake and the animals are very much alive and the carriage appears to be in pristine condition. The rake is now damned to play the role of (a strangely well dressed) cabbie and does so well enough until he is ordered by a passenger to spare not the whip in sending the carriage racing off to a destination, whereupon a lightning bolt falls with the first blow of the whip and the carriage races off towards the dawn, with the flesh of the driver, the horses and the passenger being eaten away with each new blow, and the lot of them being consumed entirely with a final bolt at dawn.
