If you could go to the Domains of Dread

A few us where toking , er talking one day, and we started to talk about if you could be transported to a Domain, knowing what you know now about that domain and its Lord, where would you want to go to, and how do you think you could help that domains darklord, and what would you want in return for it?

I'm pretty sure there are other threads like this one but I think Mordent is the best to live in, I think it's the only Core domain whole settlements are good aligned (from the Gazeteers) and is (IMO) the most like my scottish/english roots. Also, there isn't as many hostile creatures there, as long as you stay away from certain sites

As for helping a Darklord, what kind of "help" are you thinking of?

we all know the story behind my Liege, Lord Soth. If i was to meet him, i could tell him his heritage and background, and who he was. In return, maybe a portion of farming land and a choice of a mistress or 2.

with Azalin, tell him the background on Strahd, so that he could possibly defeat him, in return, have partial control over undead.
With Strahd, let him know Azalins true name, and in return, freedom to come and go in Barovia, like the Vistani, with full protection from all beings, evil and good, or even Capt of his Guard.
Things like that is what i mean.

I dunno but if I were Soth or Strahd or Azalin, once the info was given, you'd be as dead as a doornail IMO.

I think I'd like to be in Kartakass. Not really for Harkan Lukas but for the land itself and the bard contests. There are loup garous and werewwolves there but hey, that's worth that fear to be able to experience the land and bard culture in Harmonia.

I don't think I'd bother talking to Lukas as what would he want with a "paysan" like lil ole me. Let the other high mucky mucks deal with him.

Azalin and Strahd both seem to know all of each other's vulnerabilities and personal secrets... at least up to and including Azalin's work with Strahd in Barovia.

Strahd knows Azalin's true name but has no idea how to use it against him. (And it's actually never made clear in DnD rules how knowing a lich's real name can help at all.) Azalin certainly knows Strahd is a vampire and that he yearns after Tatyana. He also knows where Strahd sleeps in a coffin and where he kept his diary. In fact, both darklords found each other's diaries.

And FWIW, Van Richten also read those same diaries, or at least excerpts of them. Which means he also knew Azalin's true name and Strahd's place of rest, but he didn't get the chance to use that information against either one.

Of course, Strahd probably found alternative sleeping quarters after the lich's departure. Azalin was quite correct that the vampire's not really suicidal.

I dug that, if only to give "Van Helsing" some connection with "Dracula". It's a shame they never got to really throw down with eachother more than that one encounter, but Strahd was going through one of his "Don't do anything but mope in my castle." phases through most of Van Richten's career.

Actually, if you believe "I, Strahd", the Count was hibernating for the lion's share of Van Richten's career. Which is probably why a guy who publishes books on how to kill vampires managed to live long enough to have a career: by the time Strahd woke up, the Guide to Vampires was already published, and all he could do was order VR's books Banned In Barovia.
