Best Romantic Pairings?

Post by Gwenfloor »

In the Ravenloft universe, what two characters would make the best couple that are not currently smitten? I think that Jacqueline Renier and Ivan Dilisnya would make a good couple. Ivan's lack of physical pleasure would probably make him overlook Jacqueline's physical form of a wererat, and both share a lot in common; lust for political power, the appreciation of using subtle methods to discredit your opponent, plus their methods of staying in total control over their oppressed masses.
The two would fit right together.

Ivan's last name is Dilsnya, not Boristi.
Boristi is Ivana's last name.

Now, a pairing of Jaqueline and Ivana... I mean... oh, sweet geez.

Whoops, my bad. It's corrected now.

I was saying what two characters from Ravenloft would make perfect couples.

  You've got a point, but I have to wonder how you realized this?

Jacqueline Montarri and the Headless Horseman should definately hook up.

I read the Gazetteer III and IV and realized that Borca and Richemulot had a lot in common, with corrupt nobles oppressing their masses.
Renier has a curse that she will transform into a wererat in front of her loved ones, and Ivan cannot feel physical pleasure. After a while, he may not care if his lover if furry, more than if they share something in common.

Nostalia Romaine and Ivan Dilisnya. Of course, Ivan would just be using her to get to Ivana, but Nostalia would finally get to feel the touch of another person without killing him.

In game, it would also be an excellent circus of intrigue of betrayal, and since they both live in Borca, it's very reasonable that they would be in contact with one another.

Idea just came up now:

What if the Gentleman Caller was cursed by wanting Isolde? That he could have every woman he wanted, but satisfaction will only come to him if he had his way with the very angel that is trying to kill him?

YOINK!
Note: the previously stated idea has officially been taxed for if Undead Cabbage ever does a campaign in Barovia

Good idea!

Nice ideas. I bet Hazlik feels left out though, I think he's the only homosexual guy in Ravenloft, or at least the only famous one. Woe is him

The idea alone makes for a hell of a story! Especially if Ivan approaches her without her knowing it's him (I'm sure Ivana has already made the worst possible publicity to her cousin)...

...Mmmmmm...

...would masked balls be a common thing in Borca?

No doubt Masquerades are common in Borca.
Though, I'd doubt Ivan would be able to approach Nostalia without some kind of magical means of subterfuge.
I'd bet that Nostalia knows Ivan well; she's a master assassin and spy, after all. I'd wager she would have been used as a courier from Ivana to Ivan.
And, I'd further bet, masquerades would provide no clue. For a physically vulnerable darklord, a masquerade is an ideal oppertunity for an assassination. I'd bet Ivana never attends a masquerade without her bodygaurds knowing who everyone is behind their masks, and Nostalgia is the most important of those gaurds.
Ivan is also described as a braying jack ass, so he might not have the charm to seduce a sophisticated woman.
Finally, recent rumors were circulating that Nostalia perfers... other company.
