Staunton Bluffs Episode IV: Siege and Stand
Coffin
Seeing as Brethana is now downstairs and feeling much safer there than from that chilling laughter , she approaches the coffin with Jamethon, takes her Great Sword out, and stands right at the coffin , Great Sword now ready to pop open the coffin. She looks at Jamethon and nods to him , as she pries the lid off Sword at the ready.

Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

Re: Coffin
As Brethana comes back inside and starts down the stairs, Roland snaps at her, "I'm glad you came to your senses. How stupid can you be? Chasing a vampire? In the dark?"tarlyn st-denfer wrote:Brethana looks at Jamethon, nods, then pries the lid off, Sword pointed at the open coffin, peering inside.....
As she pushes past him, he follows her down the stairs to the coffin.
"Oh, that wasn't enough?" he mutters. "Now we have to open the coffin, too..."
Still, he doesn't leave, holding his sunrod in one hand and his pistol in the other and standing a little behind Jamethon.

AT THE COFFIN:
In the open coffin lie a small silver shield, like from a doll, a rusty letter opener with the form of a sword, and a and a blooming belladona plant...
The roots of the plant seem to drain life from the coffin's ground...
SOMEWHERE OUTSIDE:
As Jarryd comes to his senses, he realizes he's standing in what appears to be a big wine cellar.
Bottles with reddish liquid lie in small holes in a long line of wooden storage racks.
An open barrel stands before directly before Jarryd, empty; red stains sparkle the wood and the stone floor around it...
Apart from that, the cellar seems empty...

SOMEWHERE OUTSIDE:
The image of Osiris flackers and faints...Don Fernando wrote: He then drops to his knees Oh Osiris god of death and life, I am your humble servant

Roland looks confused at the sword, shield and belladonna, but his confusion passes into amused contempt as Jamethon kneels to pray. "Well, let us know when you've prayed up an answer," he says, rolling his eyes. Turning away from the coffin, he ambles up and down the basement level, sticking his sunrod into dark corners; his attitude is overtly casual, but he keeps his pistol in his hand.ewancummins wrote:Jamethon quickly puts away his pistol and sets aside his stake. He kneels beside the coffin, leaning over it. ''Our Lady's symbols. This is passing strange. See how it grows without the light of the sun? '' He points to the belladonna. ''The matter requires prayer. We should not even touch these things, till we know what to do.'' He clasps his hand and bows his head in silence.

Further investigation of the house reveals nothing more that could be classified "mysterious".
The crypt in the cellar is empty, apart from the coffin
George can't find out what caused the sound - if it really had a natural source, it almost certainly didn't come from the basement...
Maybe there's something hidden under the wooden planks...?
Though the house seems empty, the group very likely has to fight a feeling of constant anxiety:
Jarryd is still outside, missing, along with that darn vampire, there's no track of the boy or his "mother who will return soon", not to speak of his father...
Despaired, you all finally gather in the main room (the entrance hall), to discuss what to do...
Outside, silence.

What to do
"Am I right in presuming noone wants to go outside tonight? I've no experience with vampires so I'll let you who have had some decide our best course. I just don't like sitting around doing nothing and waiting , it's pointless and non-productive" Brethana tells the group. She sits down , a little frustrated at her inactivity and lets the others decide.
