In the first batch of 200 avatars we created, we focused more on color images, but there are few of them in 3e RL books.

Then I noticed many people used the few black & white avatars available, so I made more (about 30) mainly from RL 3e books. Expect more later.

Personally I prefer the black and white Ravenloft art. That's not to say that there's not good colour stuff - the covers for Night of the Walking Dead and Ship of Horrors are awesome, but the black and white art that has featured in all the newer releases has been wonderfully evocative, and I think it wouldn't lend itself to full colour. Especially the Talon stuff.

Actually, while referencing Talon stuff, does anyone know if there are samples of his work from the Tarokka deck online anywhere? There's nothing on his site, but that doesn't mean much. I have the original deck, and I'd like to get a look at the new one before I shell out for it.

There are a few sample images from the deck in the RLDMG tarroka section, if that helps...

(and it is a BEAUTIFUL deck, if my opinion helps)

What I have seen of it in the RL-DMG, I concur. It's beautiful. But I can't get it at my FLGS

There's a great thread on WOTC with Planescape art links.

Among them is also Robh Ruppels site, which has many RL pics among the different galleries (not only in the horror gallery!). Im not sure how this works legaly but if you could add some of those pics to the avatars that would be great. (I love the Dungeon cover for Felkovic's Cat for example...)

But then again i already have my Ruppel avatar...

Oh and check out Pozas site for some d20 RL pics.

Just reminder:

we are always looking for new avatar pictures to make available. If you have a picture that you think would make a good avatar, we will put it up.
Just one rule - it has to be appropriate for DD, Ravenloft, or horror in general.

Where do we send it to, though? Because I'm tempted to send a picture scanned from the comic Hellboy, just using the skeletal head of a werewolf corpse.
