maps of Lekar
In researching a proposed scenario in the War in the Core thread, I've been struggling to reconcile the two maps, one from Death Unchained the other from the Black Box, and the description in Gaz 2

Re: maps of Lekar
The text of Gaz2 seems to follow more to the Black Box map, but even then there are some discrepancies.
The River Quarter, is described as being on the west bank of the river, entered through the Talon's Arch and joined to the rest of the city on the eastern bank by the Bralgaoljanglangzeit bridge, none of these appear on either map (which makes no sense as the road to Neufurchtenburg is clearly marked on the main map, at least the DU one has a bridge)
Draccipetri isn't on an island in the DU map
the Boyars Quarter becomes the Generals Quarter, but where in the General's Quarter is the Old City Palace?
The text says south of the Generals Quarter is the Laborers Quarter, but I think this must be an error, because it also says that it is home to the city's markets, and the area south of the Generals (Boyars) Quarter on the BB map is the Merchants Quarter
As with the Palace the Great Coliseum of Lekar is difficult to place within that quarter
Assuming that when the text refers to the Laborers Quarter it is actually meaning the Merchants Quarter, then I suppose that when it refers to the slums it is referring to the Laborers Quarter which on the BB map occupies the south of the city, where the text says the slums are.
The text describes the Radiant Tower as being near the border of the Laborers (Merchants) Quarter and the slums (Laborers), but it's position of the DU map suggests a much more northerly placement (of course I might have been painting myself into a corner with all the assumptions about the differing names of the Quarters)

Re: maps of Lekar
Looking at the BB map again, the area marked OPEN MARKET appears to be in the Laborers Quarter so maybe I was wrong about that

Re: maps of Lekar
Knocked this up quickly with my guesses as to where the mentioned locales might be on the BB map
will probably make my own version that will include the west bank and river quarter soon
1. Old City Palace
2. Great Coliseum of Lekar
3. The Radiant Tower
and I've added where I think the Bralgaoljanglengzeit Bridge should go and the Harbour Gate mentioned in the text of Gaz 2

Re: maps of Lekar
Hi Kris
Having been struck by both the map you've created for this thread and the maps from your 'collection' and wanting to do something similar with my reimagining of the Core, could you tell me which particular piece of software you use to create your maps? I prefer the look of the Black Box maps and wanted to map out my "Thoughts on..." Domains to match what's in my head.
Thanks
Jez

Thanks so much
I'm using Campaign Cartographer 2, one of the things that makes it "black boxy" is the font which is Heidelberg Normal which I had to download, hope that helps

Those inconsistencies always bothered me. Nice job with the map. Do you have a bigger version?

I do, I'll be putting a bigger version up soon (well, within the 256 kb limit), I just wanted some feed back on my first draft before resizing it.

Re: maps of Lekar
the larger version, I seem to be losing detail when I'm resizing, and I don't remember that being a problem before, I think I might have changed my method without realising.
