Inexpilcably cursed with voicelessness, Varian is more convinced than ever that he must leave the ill-omened village of Ottery. Nothing he has seen from any of the folk here suggests they can or will help him with such a curse. Better to seek help in a big city; find a proper wizard. Or the spell may not last. It may pass in a few minutes or an hour, or fade after he leaves the stables. In any event he's gone.

Actually if possible will include Varian at the cone as well. If there is any magical aura Boiros will remain concentrated 3 rounds to get the school of magic.

I realize that leaving the town may be effectively ' leaving the adventure', but my PC has no notion of a 'Dungeon Master' or a 'plot.' He knows what he knows, and all signs point towards GTFO. Without any local ties and without a single offer of reward or even a simple request for help from any person in Ottery, he's just leaving.

If Varian and Xavril do escape Ottery and thus depart/decline the adventure, I will either resign from play or make a new PC, as Raf likes.

Maybe a paladin with an enmity for windmills...

As for my PC, he doesn't have an inkling of the existence of the meta-game being called the 'Dungeon Master' , so repeated OOC warnings of DOOM have nil effect on him.
