I'm using when Rafe and Ewan time periods are going on at time . This Game just continue from right after Ewan's game when the mists game and took Marsember . And he told me the current date was close to what I said it was as far as Sara knows for the Core . What the date is in Realms is different from what the Main Core in Ravenloft would be .

On the your roll on Knowledge-The Planes . It is not very well known Skill for those native to the Ravenloft . With that roll though all she knows is that this has kind of things only happens in Fairy Tales from what she remembers reading in stories .

What kind of things happen in fairy tales?

And when started the RL calendar? I mean now is 657 but at year 0 what happened and we start counting from there? Like we have now 2011, at year 0 was the Christ's birth and have passed 2011 years from that. What was the significant event in RL that we start counting from?

The Barovian Calendar is the standard dating system in most of the 'Core.'
It dates from the founding of the realm of Barovia. Whether your character knows that is up to the DM, of course. I would suggest that you ask to make a knowledge : history roll, if he doesn't just rule that Sara knows.

Faerun uses more than one dating system. These systems are for the most part much older than the system used in the Demiplane.

Of course, the Outlanders in our party do not know about this history or
dating systems of Barovia and its neighbors. Likewise, Sara wouldn't know about Faerun's calendars, history, etc.
(Skybolt will no doubt correct me if I am wrong about this)

BTW, There is no 'year zero' in the Gregorian or Julian Calendars, Van. We use Year One Anno Domini as the year of the Incarnation. This means that the Second Millenium did not begin in 2000, but in 2001.

History and religion aren't my top things lol didn't know we start from 1 lol.

You character does not need to have knowledge history or religion to know that the current year by Barovian Calender considering that your character grew up in well Educated Society and family background . The only reason your character does is not more educated in these matters is because you decided to become Rogue versus a more knowledge derived character like a wizard or archivist per say .

Okay, well, a full round search (6 seconds) covers an area 5'x5', according to the SRD. Four PCs take one quadrant each and search with a take twenty. If we do this simultaneously, we will have searched the whole room pretty thoroughly in just two minutes.

The non-searching members of the party can stand guard, to prevent anything nasty from sneaking up on us.

Assuming we find no other clues/doors/treasure/what-have-you, I suggest we leave this room and explore the rest of the dungeon.

Thoughts?

Dalorna is going to take ten to search the desk while the others decide what to do.

In case anybody missed it, my part of the RLO game (the chat) is taking a break from Ravenloft, and trying something new:

It's a game fundamentally different to what we do here, but in case anybody is interested in joining us, be welcome.

This new project might mean that my posting ratio at the Frat will probably decrease drastically, apart from my usual lurking.

Oops! Somehow I missed this post. Isidar will just be regular searching then, in a 5x5 quadrant. Not focusing on finding something to pry the lock.

Well, while talking and searching the party does not find much . Dalorna finds rather quickly that the draws are full of dust perhaps that they had paper in them at one time . The top drawer when she tries to open is locked though . While the rest of the party is searching the rest of the room 5' x 5' squares find is two different pairs of slippers under the desk while looking in that square that are in surprisingly good shape .
