Re: The Devil's Dreams OOC
Just waiting for a good moment to chime in.
Re: The Devil's Dreams OOC
Karim will arrive the same day but unless Dorgio has told him something about the twins when gave him the invitation he has no idea who they are or what they are doing.
I posted the part before the departure Ewan and in short while will post the next one.

Re: The Devil's Dreams OOC
My character would have arrived early, as it is a rare occasion that a Master Printer and owner of a large Print shop is invited to Conclave. He wants to make a good impression as well get a feel for everything.
After this is a chance for him to gain new contacts, make good with a few writers and finally meet Dorgio and his group of friends. A group his most interested in and has been keeping tabs on.

Re: The Devil's Dreams OOC
I'm grading final exams right now, but I'll update tonight.
Until then, in case anyone's interested here's a summary of Dorgio's book.
Like Benn mentioned, the actual writing is pretty uneven. There are choice phrases like "We were asking him why he was wanting to be shooting the prostitute but he could be finding no answer for his murdering." But it gets decidedly more readable as it goes on, and astute PCs might notice that Dorgio's Mordentish has improved somewhat.
Until then, in case anyone's interested here's a summary of Dorgio's book.
The Woman-Killer recounts the party's experiences with Matyr from the time Dorgio and Norzak encountered him in a tavern to Matyr's escape after Evangeline's murder. He describes Matyr as an intelligent, beguiling killer who would use his natural charm to lure victims and deflect suspicion. Dorgio notes that the method for killing females was markedly different from his method of killing males. He notes that the male victims were almost exclusively killed quickly without mutilation, and were likely killed for pragmatic reasons rather than pleasure. But the truly lurid stuff is Dorgio's descriptions of the female murders. His descriptions belie a mind that has been left not entirely stable from bearing witness to the murders. The appendix includes the wound patterns, eerily vivid in their detail despite being sketched from memory.
Dorgio surmises that Matyr's killings stem from some obsession with his mother's murder, which Dorgio assumes happened when Matyr was quite young. He hypothesizes that a child's mind and spirit are still raw and not fully formed, and that certain tragedies can warp the soul or possible allow a conduit for demonic possession.
At the end he speculates on a few cases he remembered from his younger years, murders he had originally put down to evil spirits. He muses about the Midnight Slasher in Invidia, and wonders if he suffers the same madness as Matyr. He signs off by stressing the need to find some kind of pattern to these terrors of the night, these Woman-Killers.

Dude, Vinegar is a bookworm and would love to read your book! Does Mirabulos know about Dorgio's book, or even Vinegar for that matter

Re: The Devil's Dreams OOC
I don't know how widely it was circulated, but I'm assuming that Dorgio's associates would have access to it. Mattheo definitely has copies at the Marble Faun. And Dorgio's probably met with Mirabulos over the past nine months to swap notes on speaking with the dead, I figure she'd access to a copy.
BTW Adam, what's Benn's kid named?

Re: The Devil's Dreams OOC
Thom's print shop did print off several copies of Dorgio's book. He himself even as a few. One that is more travel worn, one that stays in his office at the shop and another on a bookshelf in his manor. He might be willing to part with a copy or even make another for a right priceBrock Marsh Runoff wrote:I don't know how widely it was circulated, but I'm assuming that Dorgio's associates would have access to it. Meet your publisher.

So I guess instead of Jon playing the evil character, Roc's playing the most viscous kind of character there is: the literary agent.

Mattheo runs a bookstore called "The Marble Faun," and he's one of Benn's friends. He's also our go-to guy for analyzing freaky artifacts.VAN wrote: Question: Who is this Mattheo you guys talk about?

Yes Yes, I am here to inquire as to whether or not we can expect another installment of The Woman Killer.Brock Marsh Runoff wrote:So I guess instead of Jon playing the evil character, Roc's playing the most viscous kind of character there is: the literary agent.

"Dorgio, baby, we just love what you're doing with Woman Killer 2: Woman Killerer, love it, just love it. But we have a few dozen teeny suggestions, you know, just to kind of punch it up! First, this dwarf paladin, what's that about? Let's make him an elf, they skew younger!"
