Realms of Dread, Chapter Four
"You are right, Watch Captain. But as I told your colleague Sgt Talbot, I am wanting to change the population's idea of our wonderful Fane. Yes we do go out in Masks and ash, this is true. Times are changing, I guess you could say.
Now, given the recent events in Marsember, the fires, the undead and of course the unfortunate demise of Magus Delthrin, we at the Fane decided to have one of us join the Watch and or militia as a sign of good faith towards the city, sir. I do wear a mask, yes, but for this occasion I chose not to. It does hamper ones vision, you have to admit," she says with a smile.
She laughs lightly at her joke before continuing. "I come on behalf of the Fane to offer our assistance in protecting our great city from whatever may befall it. Seeing as the Magus has now perished we thought to take up his mantle, sir. So, in a nutshell I wish to help the city and seeing as we do specialise in the undead. Sgt Talbot did mention some special task force dealing with them or other oddities. Might I inquire more?" She does appear very eager to help. "I must remind you that as a law abiding citizen I have no weapon in which to aid you, but only my spells, sir. I cannot afford the permit for the weapon of my choice, the scythe."

W-C Rask's office
Rask takes a few silent minutes before making an answer-
''Hmmm..yes, alright. It will be good to have your help. The team lost its last cleric...''
He pauses again, coughs, and goes on-
''I have an ongoing investigation in which your expertise may prove useful. How soon can you begin working?''

Breana sits back. Steepling her hands in front of her face, fingers touching, she appears to be thinking about the Captain's question. "Yes, an ongoing investigation you say? What is it about? I presume I will be working with others? Will they be willing to work with me? You do know my Fane has a bad reputation sir. This is my only worry, really. I am ready to begin investigating immediately, is my response to your query about my debut, sir."

militia HQ
''There's been some trouble at an orphanage; missing children. You will report to Lieutenant Alain Guischard, and he'll fill you in on all the details- he likely knows more than we do at this point. As for working with the team, that shouldn't be an issue. I give orders, they follow. That's how we do it in the militia. Now, then, ask Sergeant Talbot to help you with the preliminaries; oath, badge, arms, etc. ''

Breana waits for the Captain to finish. "Very well Captain. Thank you for your time." She stands ane nodding to the man, exits his office, closing the door behind her. Smiling slightly, she walks over to Sgt Talbot's office and knocks. "Come in is heard and opening the door, she does just that. Closing it behind her she looks at Talbot.
"The Captain told me to see you about the oath, a badge and of course a weapon, Sergeant. I'm to work with an Alain Guischard on some orphanage case."

''Oh, good. Alright, here we go....''
SGT Talbot sees to the preliminaries and then provides Breana with a junior guardsman as an escort.
''He'll take you past the Fane to pick up your scythe, and then to meet Lieutenant Guischard and the rest of the team. Glad to have you with us, Breana.''
Talbot offers his large right hand for a shake.

The fresh-faced young watchman answers-
''Oh, it's an orphanage. It's not too far and we can take a skiff most of the way.''

at the orphanage--
Threan has returned and been shown inside. He's told that the others are questioning witnesses [children]. Jamethon comes out of a nearby room and squats near the gnome.
''Find anything?''

"I found their trail and traced it to a warehouse district and lost it there . As it was covered by all the traffic in the area ." Threan pauses in his explanation of what he had found . "I was thinking that I would have my brother prepare a certain spell for speaking with this little fellow for any thing it may of seen or heard ."Pointing out the mouse he takes from a pocket ."I was also thinking that he could prepare some Detect Evil Spells as Glim has said that the spell will last over an hour and Vampires have to just ooze evil in my opinion . So when we go into that warehouse district he could cast it at a promising location of investigation . " Threan explains his thoughts for Jamethon .

"Thank you so much," says Blaise to the girl. "That sounds very scary, but it also sounds like you were very brave. Now..." he turns to Emma and Orren. "Hello, Emma ... Orren," he says softly, adding a reassuring smile. "Did you see the same thing? Did the bad people from the window say any words that you could hear? Did they convince the other children to go with them?"'' I think Emma saw it, too- and Orren.''
