Realms of Dread IC, Chapter One
"Shana is right Jamethon, I'm from Faerun as well and indeed this thing happen with deities. If they get killed sometimes the resuscitate at their own plane or in a certain way get in another person. This thing has happened to Mystra, my goddess, they have killed her but then she returns! So I guess the same thing can happen with Ezra. she may be still alive and return!"
Inovidil notices Shana's strange attidute, so she gave her a quizzical look but says nothing at the moment.

Blaise looks, wide-eyed, at Shana and Inovidil as they speak, then he leans back and says, "Well, it's true -- I've done enough research and heard enough stories about the 'Time of Troubles' and other events -- but I'm still amazed by the way people here talk about the comings and goings of their gods -- the gods! -- the way that I'd talk about my Aunt Portia visiting from Martira Bay." He looks at the new faces and quickly adds, "I don't know your beliefs, but I clearly mean no offense. It's just so ... different!"
With a polite smile, he says to Jamethon, "I suppose if something like that could happen with Ezra, it would be in a land such as this. This may sound like hypocrisy from a man who's lost most of his faith, but ... there's hope."
He looks at the new faces in the group again. "Are any of you priests? I actually would enjoy a conversation about this."

I smile at Blaise
"you'll find plenty of people who bow and scrape... but the Goddess I follow is notoriously relaxed about that kind of thing."
"But seriously... its not just that it might happen. I don't know if I made myself clear. In the Faerun I come from, Torm is, at this moment alive. here, he's dead. Its not just deities dying and returning... this place is...odd. I see no reason to believe Ezra isn't just fine, wherever Jamethon came from".

Rardi seems a bit puzzled about a few things. Like who is this Ezra and where is this Martira Bay? She'd never heard of these two. She needed to get out more, she supposed. But it didn't hurt to ask and that is exactly what she did.
"Scuse me, but I've ne'er 'eard about no Ezra nor Martira Bay. Where in the Realms is this Martira Bay. An who is this Ezra?"
"Scuse me, but I've ne'er 'eard about no Ezra nor Martira Bay. Where in the Realms is this Martira Bay. An who is this Ezra?"
Inovidil looks at rardi and realizes that is normal have these questions. The fact that the woman is a cleric was good to make her understand. So she gets a big breath and says:
"Rardi, some of my companions here are not from Faerun as we are. They are from a different plane, a demiplane actually. Martira Bay is a city, a port actually in a land named Darkon. Ezra is a goddess there."
Inovidil got a sip of her drink and explains to Rardi and the others how she got to the demiplane of dread, met the others in Staunton Bluffs, saved Ezra, came again to Faerun and what they have done till Ezra's death.
"Now you know everything, Rardi. Any questions?"

Militia-HQ, the next morning-
Those joining the militia have all been issued tin stars, scrolls with offical seals and warrants, and any very basic gear they require [a blanket, bandages, normal rations, etc- nothing fancy or expensive].
Rask has just reviewed the team in the large open area of the converted warehouse. He seems favorably impressed.
''Very good looking set of recruits, Rardi. ''
The captain goes on to explain the nature of the team's duties and legal powers-
''You will form a special squad, answerable directly to me and operating outside the normal command structure. You will be given more difficult assignments, those jobs I deem too difficult for the other men. I will allow you great leeway of action- you must always remember that our mission is to maintain order in the city and to enforce the laws of Cormyr. Your comission authorizes you to make independent inquiries and to detain citizens for searches and questionings. Please don't antagonize the nobles, though, or I'll be forced to deal with their complaints- and maybe worse. ''
Rask pauses for a minute, to let all this sink in, then he continues speaking.
''One of you will be the officer in charge of the squad. As per old militia custom, I allow the men to elect such junior leaders. Of course, I posess the authority to dismiss any subordinate of mine and to appoint another in his place, should such prove necessary. So, which one of you will lead the team? When you've made your choice, alert me without delay. That is all.''
As he leaves to allow the new recruits time to confer about electing a leader, he invites Shana [who hasn't signed up] to his office.
''Ah, miss, perhaps you'd care to join me in a cup of tea while your friends discuss the matter of their new leader? ''

Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

Archedius limps a small step forward,
"I was a Lieutenant in Lord Dragonsbane's army during the war for Damaran independance. I've fought in major conflicts for over a decade and have experience leading militias in defense of their homes since then. I respectfully submit myself as a candidate but will acquiesce to the leadership of another if the group so chooses."
As abruptly as he spoke, Archedius nods his head downward and steps back. A little farther than where he was before.

Inovidil looks at Archedius and says with calm but still very serious voice:
"I have been with my companions for very long time and as you heard yesterday we had had many adventures together and we never had or actually needed a leader. Everytime we just sit and discuss what to d next. Everyone is equal here. If you want to be a leader, be my guest but we will all have an opinion, you will be just a former leader actually. Do you agree with that?"

"If Archedius wants to be the leader of this squad, that's fine with me," says Blaise.* He says in a mock whisper to the group, "There IS payment for this, yes?"

Archedius turns to Inovidil and nods his head,
"Leaders that abuse their position are often forgotten by their fellows during a retreat." He flashes his teeth.
"You can ask Rardi if it pleases you, I prefer group planning. We are not in opposition." He chuckles in a low tone, "Take no offense, but I've often found mages to be very headstrong. If I'm the one that will be the scapegoat for distrupting someone's plans, I will not be marginalized. Understand, with that said- no one in the group will be marginalized, young one."
"Now, I do not know your abilities, but I trust you will share with us what they are when necessary, correct? Shall we go collect our assignment?"
Archedius slightly nods in the direction of the Captain.

"I'm indeed headstrong and I prefer to take my decision at the moment and not strictly following plans. I just told you how things worked so far, we are a group and if indeed no one will be marginalized it's ok by me. As about my abilities...well I can do pretty many things!"
Inovidil smiles feeling pretty confident with her magic skills and winks to Archedius continuing:
"Now we can go to get our assignment, leader!"
