Re: Seeking inspiration for Carnival and Forlorn Campaigns
Please forgive my ignorance but what is a Carnival campaign? My PCs recently ventured into Forlorn as a diversion from Feast Of Goblyns but I just ran a couple of the minor quests to give them a flavour for the place (and to try out my Scottish accent) before returning to the more pressing matter o...

Re: Village of Barovia
I noticed that. It was a complaint of Curse of Strahd that they didn't bother to expand the village. (I think I pushed for doing more with the village of Barovia that year in QtR but was voted down.) Well, to be fair, when you consider the domain of Barovia from Curse, it already has one 'big' town...

Re: Village of Barovia
I'd personally use other villages for that. Barovia is just to pivotal for that, IMHO.Rock wrote:Depends. The whole town could be an adventurer trap, staffed by a skeleton crew of Lebendtod.

Re: Village of Barovia
I chalk it up to the difference in requirements between a "weekend in hell" adventure location and a longterm campaign setting location. Being a Ravenloft-Campaign centered DM, I would use the more bustling and alive version. It does kind of irk me when I read the bleak and decimated vers...

Village of Barovia
Hi, In all four 'I6' adventures (I6, HoS, EtCR and CoS) the village of Barovia is a more or less deserted place. Yes, there is a tavern, a shopkeeper, Mad Mary, Ireena and the priest of course. But the space seems deserted none the less, in EtCR even under attack. Well, after four centuries that's t...

Order of the guardians in Kartakass?
Gaz 1 mentions (p87) a compound rumored to be from the Order of the Guardians, but doesn't eloborate on it. Does S mistake the compound of Mother Fury with this one or is there truly an Order there? p88 mentions her, but no link to the compound. Are they the same?

Re: accepting azalin's help and power checks
Well, if that's the background of your village, such a name could be reasonable yes. We do have a coevorden in the Netherlands after all. I was not your storyteller, nor do I know him.. there are more RL fans in the Netherlands I think.
Good to have good role players in your group. Foster them!

Re: Latest site updates
Thanks! I loved doing it. It's not perfect though. Unfortunately many entries (like darklords) were never converted and I intended to make a guide, not the conversion itself. In some easy cases I suggest as alternative how a monster could be converted (like standard skeleton plus special ability), b...

Re: accepting azalin's help and power checks
I wouldn't. Let them forge their own damnation if they do accept help. Let them suffer the awareness of what happens when they accept evil as helper. That's better roleplatying then rolling something and cursing them. Unless they do really nasty things with those undead, of course. But let the conse...

Re: Question on power checks
You're also presuming that the Dark Powers are rewarding good and punishing evil. The canon text states it's entirely possible (ie up to the GM) that they're doing the exact opposite. Are they snatching up all these darklords because they want to "clean up the multiverse", or are they doi...

Question on power checks
Having read the power check rules a zillion times in black/red box, DoD and 3ed, I just noticed something I never noticed before (or I did, only the question cam eto me yesterday). Why is it less evil to disobey a tenet of an evil religion than a good one? (assuming the person doing it has the same ...

Re: Which Borders do You Close?
Approaching the closed border from the inside, there should be no question of what they're getting themselves into. The effect starts to creep up on the PCs. If they keep pushing forwards, it gets worse and worse until they can't go any further. In Forlorn, for example, I don't think you should cro...
